OPERATING THE LT1500 AND LT450
Refer to illustrations on previous page for location of items discussed below.
1. Hle LT1500 and LT450 are both designed to o ce rate Oil s ranoarc 110 or i20 voir current (Check icentiucauon plate on your machine for proper \loit/arr.uerage) Tne rnacrune must De connected to a grounded electrical outlet. Wh~n using machine wit~ an extension cord, use only 3 conductor, 14 gauge and do not exceed 25 feet
2. Switch on "Main Power". The indicator lamp will show that power is on.
3. Adjust heat control knob to desired temperature. It will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes to reach a normal operating temperature (350° F/ 175:JC). The temperature lamp will go off when operating temperature is reached.
4. The time cycle is electronically controlled. Simply set the timer to desired time and depress timer button. When the timing cycle is complete an electronic tone will be heard. There is no need to reset the time after each usage, simply press the button. The timer light will illuminate when timer is operating.
5. The pressure can be controlled by the pressure controlled knob. Pressure isdecreased by turning the knob clockwise and increased by turning the knob counter clockwise. Your machine has been pre-set at the factory to close to approximately 3D - 40 lbs. handle pressure. which is the recommended level for most transfer applications.
CAUTION: Excessive pressure may cause structural damage which can void the machine warranty.
6. For the LT1500 - align the garment on the lower platen and position transfer or die cuts. If garment IS creased, bring down the upper platen for a secone ortwo to iron out the wrinkles then position transfer or die cuts.
For the LT450 - secure the cap down using the bottom holddown then position transferor crest.
7. Bring down the heated (upper) platen and clamp down into position. Start the timer by simply pressing the timer button. At the sound of the electronic tone release the handle and slowly move it to its uppermost position. Do not release handle until it IS in uppermost position. Too rapid opening of the machine can cause a vacuum which may damage the transferred image.
NOTE: It is highly recommended to cover your printing area on the L T1500 (before applying heat) with a piece of transfer paper or a reuseable teflon sheet This will protect the upper platen from soilage 4
TROUBLESHOOTING
This troubleshooting section lists most problems that may be encountered when operating the LT1500 or LT450. The common problems are listed in the left hand column. The probable cause column (middle) lists the causes in the order which they are likely to happen. The right hand column lists the repai r actions in order most likely to correct the problem.
Following this troubleshooting guide you will see a detailed exploded view of your machine with a parts list. On the last page is a wiring diagram for your machine.
Every attempt has been made to make servicing your machine as simple as possible. If you do not feel confident in performing the repair actions yourself contact the distributor who you purchased the machine from or the Customer Service Department at Lancer Graphic Systems (204) 889-7422.
PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE REPAIR ACTION
1 . Machine heats excessively (garments scorch) or does not reach desired temperature.
Thermostat setting too high (low)
Thermostat improperly calibrated
Defective thermostat
Reduce or Increase temperature
Remove thermostat knob. Insert screwdriver into recess of thermostat post. Turning counter clockwise will reduce temperature. Clockwise will increase temperature. Use Temperature Strips for determining exact temperature. If thermostat fails to recalibrate replace
2. Machine does not heat. (Transfers and lettering do not slick)
No heat setting on thermostat dial and/or switch not in "On" position.
No power to plug-In receptacle
Place "Main Power" In "On position, set thermostat dial at desired temperature
Check plug-In to determine if It IS operating properly. If not, reset tripped circuit breaker.
Blown machine fuse If receptacle is operating properly, check fuse for continuity and replace if necessary Make sure power is disconnected before replacing. Use only correct amperage fuse.
Defective Thermostat To determine If thermostat is defective, unplug machine and remove machine back. Remove leads from thermostat "Joir: leads together" and plug machine in and turn power on. If machine heats up the thermostat IS defective. Replace thermostat.
Defective casting Disconnect one casting wire at the temperature control and check resistance of casting. If continuity is not indicated, check for continuity at element connections If there is continuity at element connections a faulty lead IS Indicated
If there IS no continuity at element connections then a faulty casting IS indicated. Repair faulty lead or replace casting if necessary

CHANGE SPRINGS LT450, LT1500 & LT1620
The foUowing instructions are for the removal & reinstallation of the main tension springs on your machine. Before executing the removal, be sure to shut off all power sources. Caution should be used throughout this procedure, as the main spring is under pressure. Wear proper protective eyewear at all times.
LT450: 1. With the direct power source off, carefully remove the back panel from the main control coosol.
2. As per illustration one ( 1 ), remove the 3/8" shoulder bolt from the clamping arm to the tension rocker. The ann should be free enougb not to hinder the removal of the spring cover.
3. Remove the spring cover and the old spring wiU be visabIe.
4. As per illustration two ( 2 ), remove the 3/8" shoulder bolt from the platen arm that connects the platen arm to the teflon hold down assembly. This will release the pivoting linkages cODnecting them and allow the platen arm assy. to rise.
5. Let the platen arm assy. rise to its uppermost position, tbe spring pressure will be nil. The main spring can be removed and replaced at this time.
6. To reassemble, follow the reverse order of these procedures.

CHANGE SPRINGS LT450, LT1500 & L11620
LT1500& LT1620: 1. Wi,th the main power source of(, carefully remove the back panel from the main control
consol. You ':"ill see that there are two (2) springs in the LT1500 & LT1620 models.
2. As per illustration three ( 3 ), remove the 3/8'1 shoulder bolt from the damping ann to the tension rocker. Once the arm is loose, it will free up the movement of the tension rocker.
3. Remove the spring cover and the old springs will be visable..
4. Allow the top element platen. to rise to its uppennost position. When the platen reaches top, apply a slight downward pressure on the top platen, this will help with the removal of the tension rocker to main frame 3/8" shoulder bolt as per the illustration fOUf ( 4). The tensiuD rocker can now be lifted out of the way.
NOTE: the LH side panel of the main control consol may have to be removed in order to take out the 3/8" shoulder bolt. DUring assembly, some of the machines Wid this bolt installed in reverse. Wben reassembling the machine after the spring cbange, make sure to install the 3/8" shoulder bolt from the RH side.
5. With the tension rocker out of the way, the top element platen can now rise to its uppennost position. This will result in nil spring pressure. At this time, the two ( 2 ) old springs can be removed.
6. To reassemble, follow the reverse order of these procedures. Pay special attention to the note above, stating that the reassembly should include the change (rom a LH mounted to a"RH mounted 318" shoulder bolt.
