Lauren H. Marte 46 School Lane Stevens, PA 17578
Phone: 717-471-5121 E-Mail: [email protected] LHM Objective
I would like to obtain a summer position to gain experience and college credit to fulfill the requirements of my
Recreation Management major at Lock Haven University.
Experience
Covance, Inc. Summers 2013-2016
Covance works with pharmaceutical companies to bring drugs to the marketplace. I worked in the Denver, PA
facility caring for rabbits and non-human primates. This included feeding, changing and cleaning cages,
providing enrichment and socialization. I learned the value of being punctual, working with others and
connecting with animals. I also learned the value of contributing to society and understanding how my work
with animals contributes to the development of life saving drugs and therapies.
Xtreme Lacrosse Summers 2015-2017
After graduating from High School, I was asked to be a goalie coach for the Xtreme Lacrosse Club in
Lancaster, PA. Throughout Middle School and High School, I played year-round with Xtreme and followed my
passion to play collegiate lacrosse after High School. As a goalie, I was asked to work with all the Xtreme age
groups and coach the younger players. I practice and attend tournaments throughout the summer with the
various teams.
Easter Seals Summers 2014-2017
After my junior year of High School, I started volunteering for Easter Seals’ Adaptive Water Skiing clinic in Airville,
PA at Gamler’s Boat Yard Campground right on the Susquehanna River. There, I help provide opportunities to
people with disabilities who otherwise would not have had the chance to do something like water ski or tube.
I’ve learned the importance of terminology when addressing people with disabilities and creating inclusive
programs is crucial and necessary. Being a part of an event like this inspired me to study and specialize in
Therapeutic Recreation.
Lancaster Parks and Recreation Summer 2017
After my sophomore year of college, I participated in an internship at the Lancaster Parks and Recreation
Department to fulfill one of the two requirements for my Recreation Management major. There I learned that I
would like to further pursue a profession working with children.
Education
Lock Haven University 2015-2019
I am currently a Junior working toward a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management with a specialty in
Therapeutic areas.
2
Other Activities
I was recruited to play on the Lock Haven women’s’ lacrosse team and was awarded a scholarship. Playing at the college level has been a wonderful experience and I’ve learned a lot about balancing my schedule, coursework, practice, travel and games. The game and being outdoors has been influential in my decision to major in Recreation Management.
