in linen stitch
To save time, take time to check
gauge.
Both versions of thispattern use the samestitch, but the overalleffect is quite different.The scarf (opposite,right) is knit the shortway, making the lookmore masculine and thedesign begins to take
shape quickly. The wrap(opposite, left) requiresknitting rows the longway, and you wont beginto see the pattern emergeuntil youve completedan inch or so. Either way,dont be tempted to usesmaller needles thancalled for. Larger needles
are necessary to keepthis stitch from becomingtoo tight.
