In May 2014, HEE invited
stakeholders to comment on its
draft HEE Research and
Innovation Strategy.
Over 70 organisations
responded & feedback has
been incorporated in to the
revised Strategy &
implementation plan.
The final version will be
presented to the HEE Board for
approval in September.

Stakeholder Group

Programme
• Discuss links with Integrated Academic Training (IAT)
• Develop and establish a common clinical academic careers
framework to encompass the whole healthcare workforce*

Clinical Academic Training
Programme - review
• One task for the CACSG was to review the CAT Programme –
4 levels
• A questionnaire was circulated to key stakeholders to establish
a baseline position for the CAT Programme, and identify key
issues relating to areas of good practice or barriers to access
to the various CAT Programme schemes
• The existing scheme was opened up to include pharmacists
as a pilot
• A new CAC Framework is being developed that consolidates
existing schemes into one programme for all healthcare
professionals outside medicine and dentistry – also open to a
wider range of professions
