LEADERSHIP STATEMENTby Dr. Domenico “Mimmo” Parisi
2018
My leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in my beliefs that we all have a moral obligation to fulfill our responsibilities to the best of our abilities. I believe our full potential is realized through teamwork, respect, open communication, and support for creativity and initiative. I
believe we must feel responsible for and dedicated to each other’s success. I believe in people. As such, I constantly seek to empower and recognize those who are committed to making a difference.
I value integrity, honesty, respect, and perseverance the most in everything that I do. Both professionally and personally, these traits are what I live by and what I expect from others.

LEADERSHIP OBJECTIVES
Leadership Statement | 2018
Openness and transparency best describe my overall leadership style. I am open to any comments, questions, and new ideas that people might have to improve NSPARC, and I always explain the rationale for any decision I make.
In making decisions, I always try to use a style appropriate for the situation. I prefer a democratic and participatory style to achieve consensus, especially when developing long-term plans. When I am not privy to relevant information, I involve all parties that can assist me in the decision-making process. I use this strategy to keep everyone informed about anything that could affect their work. I find this style most appropriate for developing a sense of personal growth and job satisfaction in all members of NSPARC.
Delegating responsibility and authority is another leadership style that I use. This style is appropriate only when others are able to analyze a situation and determine what needs to be done and how to do it. However, I am still responsible for the decisions that they make, so I request to be informed about every decision beforehand.
As a leader, I often have to make decisions on my own. Such situations include times when I have to respond quickly to a request or opportunity. If I err in my judgment, I will accept responsibility for my mistake and make appropriate changes. There are also situations in which I simply have to tell people what to do, especially for those who are new to the job or those who do not take the initiative to learn the job.

Lastly, when making decisions, I always keep the success of NSPARC in mind. I encourage people to support my decisions in our effort to strive for excellence and to maintain an open, transparent relationship with me and everyone else. I communicate and explain my decisions to the best of my ability, and most importantly, I try to set an example of how we should conduct ourselves.
