says he felt he hadreached saturation pointwith dark and intense rolesin his decade-long film ca-reer, and that his forth-coming movie"Ghanchakkar", a comedyentertainer, came as amuch-awaited break forhim.

"I wanted to do a com-edy film for a long time. Ihad done a lot of intensefilms and dark roles, but Ithink that was reaching asaturation point," the 34-year-old said hereWednesday at a promo-tional even for"Ghanchakkar".

The actor hasportrayaed intense roles inalmost all his films, includ-ing "Murder", "Zeher","Kalyug", "Gangster","Jannat", "Raaz - The Mys-tery Continues", "OnceUpon a Time in Mumbaai","Jannat 2" and "Shang-hai".

So, "Ghanchakkar"seemed like a whiff offresh air.

I reached saturation point withdark roles: Emraan Hashmi

"When ('Ghanchakkar'director) Rajkumar Guptanarrated the script to me,I felt that the comedy andthe sense of humour issomething through whichI want to project myself,"he added.

Emraan believes"Ghanchakkar" is going tochange the way peoplesee comedies.

"It is one of the bestscripts I have heard and itis going to change the waywe see comedies. Slap-stick comedies, I think, have had it's course, people have seen a lot ofthem and (I guess) let's dosomething else now,"Emraan said.

Chennai, For unforgettable cin-

ema entertainment, thereshould a perfect synthesisof sound and visuals, sayssound designer and mixerVishnu, who is currentlybusy with the much antici-pated Tamil horror-thriller"Pizza 2: The Villa", a se-quel to highly successful"Pizza" in the same lan-guage.

"To give audiences anunforgettable experienceof watching cinema, soundshould be given due im-portance in a film. In otherwords, sound should el-evate the overall visual ex-perience of viewing cin-ema," Vishnu told IANS.

"There should a perfectsynthesis of sound and vi-suals for audiences to getimmersed in the film.'Pizza' was speciallylauded for the sound expe-rience and we all know theimportance of sound par-ticularly in a horror film,"he added.

While "Pizza" wasmixed 7.1 sound format, itssequel is being mixed inDolby Atmos - an objectbased sound platform -popularised by films suchas "Life of Pi" and "Brave".

Sound should elevate visualexperience: Sound designer Vishnu

"Pizza 2: The Villa" isthe second film after "Sivaji3D" to use Atmos. Vijay-starrer Tamil action-drama"Thalaivaa" will also becoming out in the samesound format soon.

Did the success of"Pizza" have an effect onyou work?

"Absolutely and that'swhy we wanted to take thesound experience up by anotch. If 7.1 could scarebejesus out of the audi-ences, then you can imag-

ine what Atmos could do,"he said.

Vishnu, however, clari-fies that this sound formatis not necessarily for hor-ror genre.

"I disagree with thefact that you need ad-vanced sound platformonly for horror films or anyparticular genre. It can ef-fectively be used even fora musical. It basicallygives the freedom to asound engineer to impro-vise with sound within a

closed environment," headded.

"Pizza 2: The Villa" isdirected by debutantDeepan Chakravarthy. Itfeatures Ashok Selvanand Sanchita Shetty in thelead.

The fi lm, which isnearing completion, isproduced by C.V Kumar, who had previously pro-duced "Pizza". SanthoshNarayan has been ropedin to compose music forthe movie.
