Additional Information:a. Receipt of scholarship assistance after the
first year is contingent upon the recipient'sannual reapplication for such assistance as well as on a scholastic record ofdemonstrated good standing. Yearlyscholarship assistance is not guaranteed.
b. Scholarship recipients may attend anymedical, osteopathic or dental school oftheir choice, accredited by the Associationof American Medical Colleges, the AmericanOsteopathic Association or the Council onDental Education of the American DentalAssociation. Recipients may establishpractices in communities of their choice.
c. Candidates will be notified of their selectionor nonselection for scholarships on or aboutJune 15. Successful candidates will havetheir scholarship awards forwarded directly to them by the PNC Bank, the Trustee underMiss Lapsley’s will.
d. The decision of the JFK-MuhlenbergCampus Board of Directors with respect toeligibility for an award of scholarship is final.

Temporary residence while attending college ormedical school does not qualify for this purpose.
b. Candidates shall be eligible for degrees inmedicine from an accredited medical,osteopathic or dental school. Matriculatingstudents in the first through last year can apply.
c. Candidates shall demonstrate financial need, asdetermined by the Board of Directors.
d. Candidates are required to provide the Boardwith the Graduate Professional SchoolFinancial Aid Service (GPFAS) financialstatement.
e. Candidates must be able to attend a personalinterview with the Board at Muhlenberg if required.
f. Candidates must complete and return theapplication and financial statement formsbetween January 15 and May 1 of the year inwhich they wish to be considered forscholarship assistance. Applications receivedafter May 1 will not be considered.
Howard G. LapsleyA resident of Plainfield, New
Jersey, Howard G. Lapsley was
dedicated to improving the quality
of life for all mankind. He was an
inventor, electrical engineer,
volunteer and member of the
adjunct Medical Staff of
Muhlenberg from 1957 to 1967.
He is most noted for inventing multiple
oxygenating devices for the fast care of mass
disaster victims.
As a memorial to her brother, Josephine Lapsley
provided for the establishment of the Howard G.
Lapsley Memorial Scholarship.
The Selection Process Selection of Scholarship recipients is made by theJFK – Muhlenberg Campus Board of Directors withthe program being administered by the Board,which reviews applications, conducts personalinterviews with the most promising candidates ifnecessary and makes final selections.
The scope of the scholarship is not limited totuition, but may also include (at the discretion ofthe Board of Directors) such fees as those forboard, lodging, travel, meals, books and suppliesrequired pursuant to the core curriculum.
Eligibility The goal of the fund is to assist eligible candidateswith financial requirements for the study ofmedicine, osteopathy, or dentistry.
Eligible candidates must satisfy the followingcriteria:a. Candidates must have been raised (attended or
eligible to attend elementary or secondaryschool) in one of these communities:
