THE APOSTLE ISLANDS NATIONAL LAKESHOREThe Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is part of the United States National Park Service and includes twenty-one of the twenty-two islands in the archipelago.

The park also includes approxiamately 12 miles of shoreline on the mainland north of Bayfield, Wisconsin, including the world famous Meyer’s Beach Sea Caves (shown below in winter when many of the caves become covered in ice). The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is also home to the largest and most complete collection of historic lighthouses and light towers in the country.

Visitors are encouraged to stop at one of two visitor centers for further information before entering the park. One center is housed at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters in Bayfield; the other is located at Little Sand Bay.
