The lifespan of a Lace Wig is relatively long, if it is properly taken care of. Most women however, don't know how to take proper care of Lace Wigs. There are a few steps to properly taking care of your wig. One of the best tips for taking care of a lace wig, is to think and treat the wig as if it were your real hair. What is good for you, is good for your wig. Steps You Can Take Here are some very easy steps to take proper care of your Lace Wig. If you follow these steps, your lace wig should easily last you between 2-3 years: -When a newly purchased lace wig first arrives, take your wig and damp it with a mixture of grape seed oil and pure spring water. This is because the wigs are made of real human hair and they need to be moisturized during transition. Else they will become weak and will come off frequently. -Although you can continuously wear your wig for a very long time, if you use it in harsher environments such as extremely sunny or smoky conditions, you may need to wash it. The best way to wash the wig is to brush the wig gently at the bottom and untangle knots. After that, soak it in water and wash it with wig shampoo. Remember to never wash your wig in a washing machine. Be gentle with it at all times. -After washing it, you can dry the wig by patting it down with a towel. Don't ever wring the hair; else it might lose its shape. Do not blow-dry or comb in wet situations. Hang it in a proper place to get dried. You can also use wig conditioners to gently smoothen it out. -When taking care of your Lace Wig, make sure to only use products that were designed to be used for lace wigs. For example, use wig shampoos, conditioner and brushes, etc. -Never use nylon bristles for your wigs, especially on curly wigs because they will open out. Do not use hairspray, permanent hair colors or mousse. -Always avoid direct heat or cold when you are wearing a wig. Do not apply wigs when you are close to an oven, using blow dryers or clothes dryers, hot boiling water, barbeques or anything like that. If you are caught in the middle of a rain storm, always try to keep your wig dry and if it does get wet, dry it first before you do anything else. -Do not let your wig be exposed to extreme friction. Try to remove it before you go to sleep because frictions with a pillow or high furniture can cause your wig to tear and cut down on the life-span of your wig. -If your wig is not synthetic and made of real human hair, you can obviously curl or straighten it if you want. But it is certainly not advised. Because in a lot of cases, it is observed that users tend to use more chemicals or may apply the straightener/curler for longer than normal time which causes more damage. Keep in mind, lace Wigs are there to help you. They are guaranteed to last if you take proper care of them.
