The objective was to provide better spatial information on wetlands than found on the U.S. Geological Surveytopographic maps. It was not the intent of the NWI to produce mapsthat show exact wetland boundaries comparable to boundariesderived from ground surveys. Boundaries are therefore generalizedin most cases. Consequently, the quality of the wetland data isvariable mainly due to source photography, ease or difficulty ofinterpreting specific wetland types, and survey methods.

This map is produced from multiple data sources at varying scalesby different agencies. As a result, this map should be used forgeneral planning purposes only. If a proposed project is in closeproximity to one of these features, a site specific study may bewarranted. SOCPA makes no guarantee as to the accuracy ofthe data included in this map.
