Help me reach my dream of becoming a world-famous chef!
From age 12, Compassion sponsored children are encouraged to write
down their dreams for the future in a booklet called My Plan for Tomorrow.
Whether it’s to become a doctor, a farmer or a pilot, Compassion believes every
child should have the chance to dream big, no matter where they live.
This Kid’s Activity Booklet includes a My Plan for Tomorrow for your
own children or grandchildren to fill out with your help, as well as lots of
fun activities that will help them follow their dreams. Have fun!

Denis became a Compassion sponsored child when he
was just seven years old. When it came time for him to
complete his first My Plan for Tomorrow at age 12, he already
had a thousand ideas of what he wanted to do later in life:
fly planes, heal people with sickness or maybe even teach
children like himself! All Denis really knew for sure was that
he wanted to go to university when he grew up.
“Writing down your goals is like making a promise with
yourself,” says Denis. To Denis, the very best feeling was when
he reached a goal—like when he got a good mark in his
school exam. But if he missed his goal, that was OK too. He
just made a new one, and then worked really hard to reach it!
Going to university was one of Denis’ biggest goals. In his
hometown in Bolivia, not many children go to university
when they grow up, because they have to work to help
support their parents and because things like textbooks,
pens and rent can be too expensive.
But even though his goal sometimes felt impossible,
Denis worked as hard as he could at school so that, one day,
he would achieve his dream. And guess what? He did it!
Today, after years of hard work and
planning, Denis is studying his first year of public
accountancy/auditing at a university in La Paz, San Andres.
Denis says lots of things helped him along the way: his My
Plan for Tomorrow, his friends, his family and God especially.
So what’s next for Denis? “I dream about having my
own business one day,” says Denis. “And if I am good at what
I do, I might even get to travel one day and learn
other languages.”

When Oscar from Guatemala decided his dream was to become a farmer, he
drew a picture of himself farming the land. Drawing a picture of your dream, and
taping it somewhere you will see it daily, is a great way to remember to hope for
the future and to keep working hard to see your dream become a reality.

To reach our dreams, we need lots of tools, like hope, love and joy, friends and
family to help us along the way, patience when things get tough, determination
to work through challenges, self-belief and, above all, we need God!
