Community Resources Newcomers Donation Recipient KidsEat! was organized by Lynda Smart Brown in December of 2014 when she learned that children from the Boys & Girls Clubs were going home on weekends and had no food. As she dug deeper into this problem, she learned that Salt Lake was identified #8 of 10 cities in the nation where children and homeless were most at risk for hunger. With this shocking news she formed a group of dedicated people and started doing “food giftings” through corporations, churches, businesses and community organizations to raise food to put in backpacks to deliver to these hungry children for the weekend. Hunger is an ongoing problem & KidsEat! is the solution. KidsEat! currently provides 110 to 125 backpacks each week with 7 meals in them to children from the Boys & Girls Clubs and Neighbor-hood House. KidsEat! received their 501(c)3 status in October of 2015. Lynda S. Brown, President, KidsEat! 801-803-2505

The Models
2016 Spring Fashion Show
The 2016 Spring Fashion Show went off without a hitch thanks to our creative wizard, Jean-nie Petersen and her crew of volunteers. We had a fine selection of raffle items all of which were procured by Jeannie. Yes, Jeannie made the table floral arrangements which now are gracing several Newcomers’ homes. Our guests left their jeans at home and donned springtime fashions for the overcast day. Chico’s City Creek provided the updated 2016 summer fashions. What a great show. Loved this year’s neutral colors and styles. Very flattering to all figure types. Our greeters were Marilu Peterson and Barbara Young, warmly greeting our guests and directing them to the reservation table. Barbara Sund expertly dealt with over 90+ reservations, name tags and grouping friends together. Carol Cook assisted Barbara at the reservation table. Our token males were Lee Chaplin selling the wine tickets; Hank Merrill and Alan Fletcher were the guys with the raffle tickets. The raffle table and items were managed by Olivia Petersen and Gail Senteney. Gail and Olivia also ran the raffle drawing. Again some cheers and some groans. The roving photographer was Jan Meigs. Her historic photos fill this page with remembrances of a day well spent. Let’s not forget Debbie Reeves. Debbie ran the selling of the floral arrangements. She also managed the models, helping them dress, getting them where they needed to be. Most importantly making sure Chico clothing was back on hangers, jewelry in bags. Lastly we had a great group of models. Each shined in her Chico ensemble. A big hand and thank you to Paulette Campbell, KK Chaplin, Coleen Cronin, Lynn Hornbuckle, Carol Harmon, Karen Jergens, Catherine Lloyd, Barb Powell and Sue Zimmerman. A thank you to The Country Club for providing excellent service, moving furniture, picking up broken glass,
serving wine and helping make our event worry free. Everything was gracious, non-intruding and provided with a
smile.
