Millions of people suffer from chronic pain. The most common types of pain are arthritis, lower back,bone/joint pain, muscle pain and fibromyalgia or chronic widespread pain affecting various parts of thebody. Treating chronic pain is often difficult, even with surgery. Many non-surgical options are also availableto manage pain. The question that most patients ask is ‘does pain management really work’? The answeris that it does provided that specialists administer the treatment.
The evaluation and management of pain is now a highly specialized field. Many factors are responsible forcausing pain and therefore a multidisciplinary approach is required to treat it. Such specialized chronicpain management involves an integrated and coordinated intervention from different disciplines with acommon goal. Available at multi-specialty healthcare centers, pain management treatment usually includespain management specialists, physical therapists, neurologists, chiropractors, orthopedic specialists, nurses, and other associate staff.
This approach typically includes a thorough evaluation which involves: reviewing the patient’s medicalhistory and a physical and comprehensive examination; diagnostic testing; formulation of a treatment plan;and a coordinated team treatment. Treatment is often provided on an out-patient basis, with the patientneeding to come to the center for a specified number of hours a week. Contact your doctor to explore therange of treatment options available for managing chronic pain and to see if pain management treatmentmay be right for you.

Americans will chow down on 7 billion hot dogs this summer, most never wondering about theorigin of the strangely shaped sandwich with the odd name. Nonetheless, in case someone asks, hereare some clues from the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
Hot dogs might be an invention of college wags. One of the first confirmed written references comesfrom a Yale magazine in 1895 in which students are described as "contentedly munching hot dogs."In fact, a hot dog vendor's cart was called The Kennel Club.
Some say the hot dog was popularized by a cartoonist, Tad Dorgan, during the 1930's when he sawhis friend Harry Stevens selling the "hot dachshund sausages" during a game at the New York PoloGrounds and shouting, "get your red-hot dachshund sausages!" Dorgan was said to have sketched acartoon of Stevens pitching a sandwich with a dachshund. It had the caption: Get your hot dogs! But no proof of this cartoon has ever materialized.
There is evidence, however, that German immigrants sold 'hot dogs' from carts in the Bowery in the1860’s. And, after all, the Germans are known for their sausages.
Maybe the better question is how the hot dog bun was developed. One story features a vendor in the1870's who provided white gloves to customers who bought hissandwiches. When customers did not return the gloves, he reportedlyasked his brother-in-law, a baker, for help. The baker improvised longsoft rolls that fit the meat - thus inventing the hot dog bun.
Not surprisingly, mustard remains Americans’ favorite hot dogtopping, but ketchup has shown a steady increase in popularity,
according to a survey conducted by Harris Poll.

It’s something we’ve heard for years - exercise can help older adultsmaintain their mobility and avoid physical disability. But you don’t have totake our word for it, a study from the University of Florida has proven it.
In 2014, the study proved that daily moderate physical activity may make thedifference between seniors being able to keep up everyday activities or becominghousebound.
Furthermore, the study proved that moderatephysical activity helped aging adults to maintaintheir ability to walk at a rate 18% higher thantheir counterparts who did not exercise. “Thevery purpose of the study is to provide definitiveevidence that physical activity can truly improvethe independence of older adults,” said principalinvestigator, Marco Pahor, Ph.D., Director of theInstitute on Aging for the University of Florida.
The study demonstrated that a modest increase inphysical activity has the potential to help olderadults maintain functional independence. The Live2 B Healthy program aims to help seniors do justthat - maintain their independence. Every partici-pant in our Live 2 B Healthy programs is tested 3times per year to measure improvement in bal-ance, flexibility, strength and endurance. Thesetests results are provided to the individual so theycan monitor and measure their progress.
Live 2 B Healthy exercises are specifically designed to tackle issues that the agingface such as loss of balance, mobility and muscle tone. Our trainers also providemodifications for those with specific limitations so that everyone can be successful.
