I. Seek!!!A. First, Truth (Eph. 4:25)“Therefore each of you must put off false -hood and speak truthfully to his neighbor”As much as it often hurts us; the truth must be spoken. As the image of Christ; it is our duty, “The Called Out Ones,” to say it even when it hurts

1. Lair, Liar pants on fire…Jn. 8:44“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” Because to start with a lie means you have to end with one. Lying kills the spiritual nature of mankind. It lines us up with the “Father of Lies” (Satan). Our trust is gone between God and each other

2. “He Cannot Lie”…Titus 1:2“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”He started with the truth; Christ continued as the truth; and guess what He will finish with the truth

a) In order for us, The Church, to be relevant for such a time as this; Lying cannot be apart of our dialogue

ii. Control!!!A. Second, Temper (Eph. 4:26,27)

Eph. 4:26a “In your anger do not sin…” 1. the right time to vent…Jn. 2:15,16

“And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and over threw the tables; And said to them that sold doves, ‘Take these things hence; make not My Father’s house an house of merchandise”When you understand the purpose of the Temple then when you see wrongdoings going on you can act as Jesus did. The Temple was being defiled with lying & cheating, and His anger was directed at how the people were treating each other

2. It’s getting dark; watch it!! Eph. 4:26b “…Do not let the sun go down while

you are still angry” a) Bring it down a notch…Pro. 29:22

“An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgres- sion”

1. Pay it where it is to go…Matt. 22:21“They say unto Him, ‘Caesar’s.’ Then saith He unto them, ‘Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Cae- sar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s”

a) Dead-beat Christians…Psa. 37:21a“The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth”You owe it!! Pay it!!! We are commanded to pay our debts…So-Do-So!!!!


III. Not Yours, Don’t Take It!!!A. Third, Toil

2. Keep your hand involved in righteous work…

Eph. 4:28b,c “…must work, doing something useful with his hands…that he may have something to share with those in need”

a) Where work is to be done; get it done…2 Thes. 3:10 “For even when we were with you, we gave

you this rule: ‘If a man will not work, he shall not eat’”

Eph. 4:29a “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths…”

1. It rots the Body…Matt. 15:18“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean’”It makes you & your breathe “Stink.” It does not look good at all on those of us in the “Body of Christ”

2. Be useful in what you say…Eph. 4:29b“…only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it might benefit those who listen”

Holy Spirit’s sake…Eph. 4:30“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God…sealed for the day of redemption”We are to purge ourselves of all those char- acter traits that all to often make themselves visible in our lives (Such as in Eph. 4:31,32)

b) We are also to forgive…Matt. 6:15“But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins”You can not expect to get it; if you are not willing to do it yourself



2. Be useful in what you say… c) In addition to forgiveness we are to

Lk. 6:27,28 “But I say unto which hear, ______________________, ______________________________________________ and ___________________”

3. If you live by this, you can forgive!!Phil. 4:13 “I can do everything through Him who

gives me strength”

Love your enemies Do good to those who hate you

Bless those who curse you Pray for those who mistreat you


Which applies—Truth, Temper, Toil & Talk “Temper” was often what I had hung my hat on in order to get my point across. The real problem was being unable to rid myself of the anger. It was a real timely process to work that trial out of me, but a continuing growth in the understanding of God’s word is what put’s me and keeps me in check. The word of God allows me and energizes me towards a kinder, compassionate side.

The Word really will change you—All you need is to know it—
