Internet tracking is the process of following internet activity
backwards from recipient to user through a special type of
software. Internet tracking can track internet activity on the web
such as what sites are visited and how often. Internet tracking is
absolutely LEGAL and can be used by almost any person with a
computer and internet access.

There are many different ways internet activity can be tracked.
Cookies- Internet cookies are small text files that Web sites store
to your computer's hard drive. An Internet cookie gives a unique
identifier relevant to a particular Web site to each computer that
visits the site.

Bugs or beacons. A bug or a beacon is an image that can be
installed on a web page or in an email. Unlike cookies, bugs cannot
be disabled. Bugs or beacons can track a lot if information. the
user's IP address. the email address of the user the user
computer's operating system. the URL (Uniform Record Locator), or
address, of the web page that the user was visiting when the bug or
beacon was activated the browser that was used (i.e., Netscape,
Explorer.)

Active X Java Scrip-computer-scripting languages are
automatically activated when a site is visited. Tracing email-
every email contains a section of information that is dubbed the
header. Information concerning the origin time, date, and location
of the message is present, as is the Internet address (IP) of the
sender's computer. Chat rooms- Chat rooms are electronic forums
where users can visit and exchange views and opinions about a
variety of issues.

Law enforcement/ Government- track people using the internet
for malicious illegal activity. Very advanced software only
available to law enforcement and government officials. Parents-
monitors their children's internet activity. Children unknowingly
provide personal information on the web such as: First and Last
Name Where They Live What School They Attend Their Friends Names
Pictures of What They Look Like Their Email Address Chat Screen
Names They Use Personal Interests They Have RESPECT MY
AUTHORITY

Employers- can measure the productivity of employees by
tracking their internet activity at work and precisely calculate
how much time in one day an employee spends viewing non related
work sites while on the job. Includes exact detailed personal email
and messages which can cause a lot of ethical issues in the work

Retail Business- business that are on the internet can use
internet tracking software to track millions of people world wide
to learn about what site people are visiting the most so that these
companies can send people specific advertisements linked to what
their interests are.

a parent being able to track and block their activity. Help
government and law enforcement track down people using the internet
for illegal activity. Helps employee productivity in the work
place. Allows business to understand a customers specific need and
interests.
