The Pradesh CongressCommittee (JKPCC) unitDoda under the leadershipof Sheikh Mujeeb Ali, presi-dent district Congress Com-mittee Doda lodged a strongprotest against the unprece-dented price hike in petro-leum, Diesel and LPG anddemanded its roll back.

As part of Nation Wideprogramme launched bythe All India Congress

(AICC), the JKPCC has or-ganized district wiseprotests in the entireJammu and Kashmiragainst the unprecedenthike in petroleum, dieseland LPG, describing it asanti-people measureadopted by the Modi Govt.

According to statementissued to this correspon-dent, The District Presi-dents of the Party also sub-mitted memorandum toDDC Doda Dr. Sagar D.Doifode, demanding thatprice escalation of diesel

and petrol must be stoppedvery immediately.

Sheikh Mujeeb said thatduring the last three andhalf month, the BJP Govthas increased 21/ petrol andRs. 26 on diesel puttingheavy burden on the people,which is absolutely unjusti-fied and deserves strongcondemnation.

Mujeeb further said thatthe wrong polices adoptedby the government was re-sponsible for the hike inpetrol, diesel and LPG de-spite the price on crude oil

constantly remaining lessthan 50 percent for the lastsix years, ironically the pe-troleum and diesel pricesare skyrocketing, as a result,common people especiallytransporters, farmers andother sections of the peopleare bearing the brunt ofprice hike.

The excise duty was 9.20per litre on petrol and Rs.3.46 per litre on dieselwhereas in six years afterassuming power Modi Govthas increased it to Rs. 23.78on petrol and Rs. 28.37 onDiesel per litre increasing itto 820 % on diesel and258% on petrol, they said.

Congress Party demandsimmediate roll back of pricehike to ensure that commonpeople were not forced tostop their day-to -day activ-ities due to the unprece-dented hike, they added.

In a Public Interest Litiga-tion filed by Care Natureand Environment Societythrough its Secretary RuchiChauhan Khan, seeking di-rection to respondents notto issue any new licenses foropening bars/liquor vendsetc for serving intoxicatingdrinks /liquor in JammuDivision of the Union Terri-tory of J&K, A DivisionBench of J&K High CourtJammu Wing ComprisingChief Justice Gita Mittaland Justice Vinod ChatterjiKoul after hearing AdvAnkur Sharma for the PIL,

issued notice to Union Terri-tory of Jammu and Kash-mir Through Commis-sioner/Secretary (FinancialCommissioner) FinanceDepartment, Excise Com-missioner J&K and DeputyExcise CommisisonerJammu.

In the PIL, petitioner alsoseek declaring clauses 3.2.3and 3.2.4 of the J&K ExcisePolicy issued vide SRO 128dated 25.02.2019 as uncon-stitutional as the formerprovides for the grant ofnew licenses in un-servedand under-served areas ofJ&K U.T and the latter, forthe purposes of grant of li-censes, declares Tehsil (ba-sic unit for Rural areas) andMunicipal Ward (basic unitfor urban areas) ; as bothare violative of Articles 21

and 19 of the Constitution ofIndia.

In the PIL it has beensubmitted that there is un-even distribution of wineshop licenses vis a visJammu and Kashmirprovinces. Out of a total of224 wine shops in J&KUnion Territory Jammu Di-vision has a share of 220such shops whereas Kash-mir Division has only 04such shops. Out of a total of319 bars in the Union Terri-tory of J&K, there are 311such bars in Jammu Divi-sion whereas in KashmirDivision there are nearly 08such bars and the ExcisePolicy in question providesfor grant of new licenses forsuch shops and bars. TheExcise Policy issued videSRO 128 dated 25.02.2019

provides for the issuance ofmore licenses for wineshops and bars to the deter-ment of the culture, health,moral and spiritual valuesof the people of Jammu Di-vision.

Two day training onComputerization of Regis-tration System (CRS)through National GenericDocument RegistrationSystem (NGDRS) orga-nized by Inspector GeneralRegistration, J&K, Dr.Pawan Kotwal, concluded,here today.

Registrars/ Sub Regis-trars of District Jammu,Samba, Udhampur, Kathuaand Srinagar participatedin the online training, im-parted by the Software De-velopment Unit (SDU),NIC, Pune in collaborationwith Registration Depart-ment and NIC Jammu &Kashmir.

For the convenience ofthe citizens, the Depart-ment of Registration is go-ing to switch over registra-tion of the documents work,which is presently beingdone manually, to onlinecomputerization in theUnion Territory of J&K, tomake it hassle free, smoothand time saving.

In this regard, it has beendecided to start the regis-tration through NationalGeneric Document Regis-tration System (NGDRS) asbeing done in few otherstates of India.

The SDU, Pune has al-ready developed the soft-ware as per the require-ment of the UT of J&K, forwhich trial launch was doneby the Advisor to Lieu-tenant Governor of J&K,

K.K.Sharma on June 15,2020.

The infrastructure re-quired for the Rolling out ofComputerization Registra-tion System (CRS) throughNational Generic Docu-ment Registration System(NGDRS) is being devel-oped in the offices of In-spector General Registra-tion , J&K, Addl. InspectorGeneral RegistrationJammu/Kashmir and allthe (20) Registrars and (77)Sub Registrar offices in theUT of J&K.

Similar, training shall beconducted for the Regis-trars/Sub Registrars ofother districts of the UnionTerritory shortly.

Jammu and KashmirApni Party (JKAP) has de-manded financial packagefor the businessmen andhoteliers of Jammu’s OldCity areas and Katra knownfor religious tourism hub.

In a press statement, J&KApni Party, senior leader,Vikram Malhotra and for-mer minister Manjit Singhsaid that the business com-munity and hoteliers havesuffered financially due tothe lockdown period andthey have yet not recoveredas the restrictions continueon religious tourism.

Under this prevailing situ-ation, both the leaders saidthat the shopkeepers atRaghunath Bazaar and Ka-tra needs financial supportfrom the Government espe-

cially when the religioustourism has come to standstill in Jammu and Kashmirdue to covid threat.

They said that “Hundredsof families associated withthe religious tourism andassociated businesses arefacing tough times. TheGovernment must extendtheir full support and comeout with a financial packagefor them.”

they have appealed to theGovernment to waive offelectricity bills of people inJammu and Kashmir due tocovid lockdown.

As part of its Covid-19special training program,J&K Skill DevelopmentMission (JKSDM) today or-ganized an online programon the topic “Stress Man-agement During Crisis.Renowned Psychiatrist,Professor and Head of theDepartment, IMHANS,GMC, Srinagar Dr. ArshadHussain was the resourceperson of the program inwhich he stressed on theimportance of managing

stress and anxiety duringtimes of crisis.

While highlighting thevarious aspects of stressmanagement, Dr. Arshadsaid, “Covid-19 has alreadyincreased the stress level inthe lives of the 21st century,it becomes imperative forus to inculcate positive out-look in such scenario and inthis regard stress manage-ment plays a pivotal role.”

Dr. Arshad further added,“In times of crisis such asCovid-19, we should talk torelatives and friends andtalk good, positive things.One must not overreact or

over-research and followthe advice of the experts.”

Under the Covid-19 spe-cial online program,JKSDM through differentbatches has already pro-vided online training to1061 candidates on variousskill sets such as cyber secu-rity, GST, tailoring skills(Masks & PPEs), internetweb designing, front officeoperations in hospitalitysector, beauty makeup etc.

Candidates includingprofessionals, homemak-ers, unemployed youth andstudents pursuing profes-sional courses are receiving

training for these courses inJKSDM affiliated institu-tions. Besides the daily classby instructors, the candi-dates are also getting an op-portunity to interact withreputed industry experts.

Since Covid-19 hadclosed all academic & tech-nical institutions includingskill training centres assuch online trainingcourses were initiated bythe Mission aimed to makeproductive use of time ofpeople of J&K during cur-rent lockdown viz-a-viz im-parting skills beneficial tothe people.
