Here are your home learning activities for our Ancient Greek topic. You need to choose at
least 1 activity from the boxes below to complete over the holiday and the next half
term.
Your work should be beautifully presented and in your own words, you cannot just copy
and paste from the internet. If you think of something different to those that are listed,
check with your teacher and you could do that instead! All home learning should be
brought into school during the week beginning Monday 21st October to be shared with
the class.
Make an A-Z of Greece. Think about
presenting your work in the best way
possible. What could you do on the
border? You could add an illustration to
each or some of the letters along with
small pictures linked to your sentences.
Make a travel brochure about Ancient Greece
Where would you travel to? Where would you
stay? What could you do while you were there?
Who would you recommend to visit? Use
pictures with lots of facts and information.
Create a picture of an imaginary Greek
God. Make sure your poster is
eye-catching and full of facts and
information. Try to think of a symbol
for your God.
Write a diary extract from the
viewpoint of a family member in Sparta
or in Ancient Greece. Try to write about
your feelings about daily life.
Make a Spartan helmet or
design a shield.
Design your own
Labyrinth. It could be
made of straws, string
or wood.
Visit a Greek restaurant. Take a camera and
ask them if you can take pictures of the food,
maybe even as they prepare it. Look at the
menu. How it is different to traditional English
food? Design your own Greece menu, write a
report about your visit, take pictures and label
them or make a poster.
Turn a myth into a cartoon,
for example,
Theseus and the Minotaur. Use
lots of speech bubbles.
It’s All Greek to Me!
The Spanish Civil War was fought between
1936 and 1939. Find out information about
what happened at that time. Include imag-
es and information that you can find out
about what happened.
The Taj Mahal is one of the 7 Wonders of
the World. Find out more about the Taj Ma-
hal; why was it built? Who built it and when?
Add pictures with labels of parts of the
building. You could even look at some of the
patterns used around the Taj Mahal. Present
your learning in an interesting way.
Find some Spanish Salsa music on the In-
ternet and practise some Salsa dancing.
You could video yourself and some friends
doing your routine. Find out what certain
dance moves mean
and try to tell a story
with your dance.
What does Spain import and export?
Find out using books and the internet. Use a
map of Spain and colour in different areas
where the different crops comes from. Can
you write a story or report about how food
from Spain gets from the field to our dinner
tables? Maybe you
could look in the
supermarket for
foods that come
from Spain and
include these in
your report.
