Packaging
• is the science, art and technology of enclosing or protecting products for distribution, storage, sale, and use.
Package Types
• Packaging may be looked at as several different types.
• For example a transport package or distribution package is the package form used to ship, store, and handle the product or inner packages.
• It is sometimes convenient to categorize packages by layer or function: "primary", "secondary", & “Tertiary”.
Primary packaging
• >> the material that 1st envelops the product and holds it.
• >> the smallest unit of distribution or use and is the package which is in direct contact with the contents.
Secondary packaging
• is outside the primary packaging – perhaps used to group primary packages together.
Tertiary (Ta-Shi-nary) packaging
• is used for bulk handling, warehouse storage and transport shipping.
Packaging Exercise 1• Today, we are going to create a form of
simple 3D object – “Pyramids”
• A Pyramid blue print has been provided. (Download from jexpression)
• Each student will then design a realistic “brick” pattern on the blue-print in Illustrator and print out.
• Cut out and glue the Pyramid into a real 3D object
• Print student full name at the bottom of the Pyramid in order to earn credit
