DESIGN TO ME
WHAT IS DESIGN?
• A design is the outward appearance of a product or part of it, resulting from the lines, contours, colours, shape, texture, materials and/or its ornamentation.
Design process• Its abstract forms works
by consultation and consensus. The process begins with the identification and analysis of a problem or need and proceeds through a structured sequence in which information is researched and ideas explored and evaluated until the optimum solution to the problem or need is devised.
DESIGN TYPESOriginal Design –an original solution principle is determined for a desired system and used to create the design of a product.
Variant Design – the size and/or arrangement of parts or subsystems of the chosen system are varied. The desired tasks and solution principle are not changed.
Adaptive Design - an existing design is adapted todifferent conditions or tasks; thus, the solution principle remains the same but the product will be sufficiently different so that it can meet the changed tasks that have been specified.
Features Of Design • Human endeavors (talent, experience,
practice, prejudice)• Design involves creative, innovative, and
original thought• Open-ended Restricted by resources• Designers may have different “value”
systems• Designers have to make decisions under
uncertainty and risk.
