A Student Teaching Experience : A Summary of Technology
Incorporation in the Classroom
Student Teaching Tasks with Technology:
• Getting to Know the Students/Self –PowerPoint Presentation• Engaging/Interesting Assignments- Voki • Presenting Our Work -Wiki• Assignments/ Gaining Understanding • Exploring Outside the Classroom – Interviews Via Skype • ‘Smart’ Interaction - Smart board and Notebook Software• Communication with parents – Email • Including Assistive Technology (AT)
• Part One• Part Two
• Thank You – Tools to Incorporate Next
PowerPoint proved to be a wonderful tool to introduce myself at both of my student teaching placements. Students saw pictures of where I grew up, the schools that I’ve attended, and where I have worked. Finally, I shared some of my hopes and dreams. Sharing hopes and dreams (next slide)emphasizes my desire to continue learning.
Technology helps us to continuously learning as we grow!
The last slide of my self-introduction, before asking my students to write to me, telling me about their hopes and dreams.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.” - 2 Peter 1:5-6

• Students later made their first PowerPoint about the Eastern European Country that they were studying.
Technology can convey messages and create
interest!
6th Grade

My 6th grade students embed the code for their Voki (explaining the steps of how to solve a math problem), and embedded it in the wiki that I created for our class.
We had several online assignments and in class activities. Multiplication facts were still a struggle for some of my third grade students. We visited the Times table at: http://illuminations.nctm.org/
Gaining Understanding
Online InterviewsMy third graders were studying The Southwest Region of the United States. I happened to know Ms. Engelhard, who is now teaching in Tucson AZ. We asked each of our classes to write questions for the other class about what life is like in the Southwest/ Midwest. With the permission of our administrators, our students were able to interview one another via Skype. What a great experience!
‘Smart’ Interaction
Smart Technologies Notebook Software is easy to use when planning lessons to be presented on the SmartBoard.
Daily the SmartBoard would show: o Student Check-in/ lunch count o Viewing Assigned Seating o Supplementing Lessons/
Demonstrationso Student Participation
Communicating With Parents
Using Assistive Technology (AT)
Interactive Word Wall Activities
Individual Dry Erase Boards
• CD ROM• IPOD• YOU TUBE• TV • DVD/VCR, • OVERHEAD PROJECTOR
Using More Assistive Technology (AT)
Thank You!Hope you viewing some of the tools used during my student teaching
experiences. I can not wait to try out other tools in my classroom!
