All businesses/organisations with five or more employees are required to provide a written document
detailing its general policy for health and safety and the organisation and arrangements for carrying out the
policy. mployees should !now about the policy and be aware of their own responsibilities.
"he responsibility rests with the employer for ensuring that all Health and Safety Acts and #egulations are
complied with and that any written documentation produce is suitable and sufficient.

$dentify people who might be harmed by the ha%ard) including employees) other wor!ers in the wor!place
and members of the public. 7o not forget the cleaners) e4ternal maintenance ?ontractors) and other
visitors. $t is also necessary to identify groups of employees who may be particularly at ris!) such as young
or ine4perienced employees) new and e4pectant mothers) out of hours activities) home wor!ers) those who
wor! alone and disabled staff.
