Information on computers
By Leilani Dogbevi
IntroductionThe purpose of our presentation is to
tell people about computer equipment. I will inform people about different
components of a computer. The people im aiming my presentation at is
student art St Anselms aged 11-18.
HardwareHardware, in the computer world,
refers to the physical components that make up a computer system.
There are many different kinds of hardware that can be installed inside,
and connected to the outside, of a computer.
KeyboardThe keyboard is the piece of computer
hardware used to input text, characters and other commands into a
computer or similar device.Microsoft and Logitech are the
probably the most popular keyboard manufacturers but other hardware
makers also produce them.
Mouse
A computer mouse is an input device that is most often used with a personal computer. Moving a mouse along a flat surface can move the on-screen cursor to different
items on the screen. Items can be moved or selected by pressing the mouse buttons (called clicking).
It is called a computer mouse because of the wire that connects the mouse to the computer. The people who
designed the first computer mice thought that it looked like the tail on a mouse. Today, many computer mice use
wireless technology and have no wire.
software
Computer software, or simply software is any set of machine-readable instructions that directs a computer's
processor to perform specific operations. Computer software contrasts with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Computer hardware
and software require each other and neither can be realistically used without the other. Using a musical analogy, hardware is like a musical instrument and software is like the notes played on that instrument.
Monitor
The monitor is the piece of computer hardware that displays the video and
graphics information generated by the computer through the video card.
Monitors are very similar to televisions but usually display information at a
much higher resolution.
Microsoft officeMicrosoft Office is an office suite of desktop applications,
servers and services for Microsoft Windows and OS X operating systems. It was first announced by Bill Gates of
Microsoft on 1 August 1988 at COMDEX in Las Vegas. Initially a marketing term for a bundled set of
applications, the first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. Over the years, Office applications have grown substantially closer
with shared features such as a common spell checker, OLE data integration and Visual Basic for Applications scripting language. Microsoft also positions Office as a
development platform for line-of-business software under the Office Business Applications brand.
Security-what threats are there to a computer?
Viruses, worms, Trojans, and bots are all part of a class of software called malware. Malware or malicious code (malcode)
is short for malicious software. It is code or software that is specifically designed to damage, disrupt, steal, or in general inflict some other bad or illegitimate action on data, hosts, or
networks.
