Increasing Cross-Referral and Recruitment to Clinical Trials: A New APProach
Our problem in 2013: significant challenges recruiting patients to haematology trials
• Broad spectrum of diseases
• Geographical challenges
• Barrier - knowledge management for ~90 trials. What & where?
• Assumption - haematologists won’t refer patients to other hospitals
• Assumption - patients will not travel
Aims:
• To develop a free App to facilitate patient cross-referral to NSW Haematology Trials
• to measure App uptake & effectiveness:
– rates of cross-referral
– clinical trial recruitment
– overall haematology trial unit staffing
– analysing app usage
