Hi Everyone
In mid September, Wayne, Alaster and myself will be attending the Automechanika trade show in Frankfurt. The trade show is something we attend every second year to keep us up to date with the latest technology for repairing vehicles, from parts to technical equipment. It also gives us an insight into new developments about to be released. Volkswagen & Audi always have a great presence at the show. Watch our facebook page for photos and news from the show.
The cost of postage is forever increasing, so anybody who would like to receive their newsletter by email, please email [email protected] As an extra incentive, there will be a $100 MTA voucher draw for anybody who changes from the mail option to an email option.

Common safety features in most later model cars.
These days it is important to focus on the safety features a vehicle offers. If you are considering up-dating your present vehicle bear this in mind, it should at least have the following features.
Electronic Stability Control. (ESC). This helps drivers avoid crashes by reducing the danger of skidding or losing control as a result of over-steering. It uses computer-controlled technology to apply individual brakes and to help bring the car safely back on track, without the danger of fish-tailing.
Curtain airbag Activates instantly in the event of a side-impact crash, deploying from the top of the door rails above the side window. They form a cushion between the driver or passenger, and the window, and stay in place if the car rolls over, to protect their head. Re-search indicates that these head protecting airbags reduce driver deaths in the event of a side-impact crash by nearly 40%.
3-point seat belt in back seat 3-point seatbelts go over the waist and the shoulder. They provide much better protection than 2-point lap only seatbelts, which can in fact, lead to serious in-juries.
ABS (Antilock Braking System) Reduces the risk of tyres skidding under heavy breaking and allows the driver to maintain steering control of the car. Only operates under heavy brak-ing or on slippery surfaces.
From fighter jets to Volkswagens !
The latest VW Passat will be fitted with safety fea-tures first pioneered on planes such as the F-16.
The system projects speed and navigation data to a retractable screen over the steering wheel, to keep the driver’s focus on the road.
Also available, will be a safety option that can bring the car autonomously to a halt if the driver falls asleep.
These features would normally only be available in the higher-end market, guess you could say in true ‘people’s car’ philosophy - Volkswagen is living up to its name.
Appearance is not forgotten, with a new sleeker-racy look, that should impress.
It will be competitively marketed and priced, to pro-vide an excellent choice for any discerning car buyer.
Volkswagen in China
Volkswagen is to build two more plants in China to maintain its strong presence in this fast growing market.
VW predicts it may sell more than 3.5 million vehi-cles in China this current year.
China has become their largest and currently most important market, with a focus on compact cars.
Skoda proves popular with UK drivers.
The Skoda Yeti has won an annual customer satis-faction survey for the third year in a row, while the Czech manufacturer took the top three places.
The Skoda Yeti recorded an overall score of 92.7 per cent, with the Citigo and Superb taking close second and third places with 92.6 per cent and 91.6 per cent respectively. The Yeti was voted the easi-est car to drive, and the Citigo the most affordable to run.

More Skoda news:
Skoda Yeti is proving to be an excellent small/medium SUV choice. Available in a two-wheel City model and a four-wheel drive Outdoor version.
The latest models have had a facelift to become more visually appealing. How-ever, the compact exterior can be mis-leading, as the interior is surprisingly spacious for passengers, although a little less so when it comes to the boot space.
One very handy feature is the ability to configure the rear seats individually in a 40 / 20 / 40 ratio. Each seat slides and folds independently, and you can flip the backrest down to get a generous load-through, tip the whole assembly forward for more cargo space or simply remove each seat from the car completely to

make the Yeti into a van.
The Yeti is responsive and easy to han-dle which makes it a very versatile vehi-cle that will meet the needs of most owners.
The City is powered by Volkswagen Group’s universal 1.4-litre turbo-petrol (TSI) engine, and comes with 16 inch wheels.
The Outdoor model has a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and is fitted with 17 inch alloy wheels.
