OBJECTIVE

• Pharmacy and dental faculty created a pharmacotherapyconsult request decision pathway that allows DDS and DHstudents to discuss their patients’ medication-related issues

• Consult services were conducted by pharmacy faculty andsecond year PharmD students and focused primarily oneducation and clarification (Table 1)

During the experience, PharmD, DDS, and DH students activelyengaged in collaboration to address real-world patient issues

To describe the development and implementation of apharmacotherapy consult service focused on interprofessionalpractice (IPP) collaboration between doctor of pharmacy(PharmD), doctor of dental surgery (DDS), and dental hygiene(DH) students in dental school practice clinics

• Dental school clinic setting provides a rich opportunity formultidisciplinary interaction and earlier immersion of PharmDstudents with real-world patient interaction

• Outcomes indicate the benefit of this IPP collaboration andsupport continued integration of pharmacy practitionerswithin the dental school clinic practice environment

• Evaluation of the consult service and student learningincluded baseline and post surveys assessing:

• Student clinical experience assessment were evaluatedthrough student self-reflection, focus groups, facultyevaluation, and consult tracking technology

Trends and themes from all disciplines noted:
