Immigration 101: Our Stories

Undocumented? Ally? Something in between? Join members of the Immigrant Youth

Justice League (IYJL) to explore a little history of the immigrants’ rights movement(s) as

well as the current work being done by undocumented youth and allies across the

country. Together we can begin to redefine citizenship and belonging, beginning with

understanding our different struggles, stories, strategies and desires.

Bios The Immigrant Youth Justice League is a Chicago-based organization led by

undocumented youth working towards full recognition of the rights and contributions of

all immigrants with the help of allies. We coordinate with other youth groups and

organizations on a local and national scale to educate parents and youth to know their

rights in terms of education, as human beings, and organize to protect and demand these

be respected. We use the power of our stories, coming out as undocumented, and actions

as undocumented youth and allies to encourage other people to speak out about their

experiences, share strategies for overcoming obstacles as immigrant youth, as immigrant

communities, and de-stigmatize what it means to be undocumented.
