What are we looking at?

The specific aims of the IYG Evaluation can be split into the following areas:

• Participants• Staff• Fans

IYG Evaluation aims: Participants

• Compare the wellbeing of participants at the start and end of their IYG programme

• Compare the access to social resources of participants at the start and send of their IYG programme

• Assess the nature of the social contact between people with and without mental health problems during the course of IYG.

• Compare mental health related knowledge, attitudes and intended behaviour among club staff at the start and end of IYG.

• Compare fans’ support for IYG during year 1 vs. year 2 of the programme.

Results so far: Participants• 102 participants completed baseline

questionnaires

• Personal information sheet returns have been limited, but we have gathered that:– 70% of people who completed personal info

sheets stated that they had personal experience of a mental health problem.

– Those who disclosed how long they’ve been involved with mental health services had been for an average of 7 years and 5 months

Results so far: Participants• 93% of participants were male• The mean age of participants is 27 years of age

but we have participants ranging from 18 to 61 years of age.

• 77% of participants described themselves as White British

• 53% of participants are currently unemployed• A further 5.9% were either retired or currently

employed but off work due to ill health• 14.3% have cared for someone with a mental

health problem in the past
