Ice on my headinsteadA story by Preston pouteauxfor Caroline Dewald
There once was a girl that really loved the summerBut it go so hot and she said, “What a bummer!”
So she thought of ways to beat the summer heatAnd some of her ideas seemed kinda neat
She ran down a beach and jumped in the lakeBut the funky stinky smelly algae, she just couldn’t take
She bought an ice cream and put it on her headBut she looked so silly, that’s what her brother said
She went to the zoo and moved in the with the polar bearBut he shed so much that she was covered in hair
She quickly peddled her bike to catch a breezeBut she got bugs in her nose and that made her sneeze
She moved down to the basement, mom said it was coldBut it was dark and scary; was that a monster covered in mold?!
She turned on the fan as high as could goBut it messed up her hair; what a show!
When she ran out of ideas to cool downShe sat in a park in the middle of town
Before she knew it, the wind started to blowAnd in an instant the town was covered with snow!
As deep and as cold as snow ever could beThis little girl was jumping with glee
But then her nose grew red and her toes grew blueShe started to wonder, “What should I do?”
“I gotta find a way to beat this winter cold,” She said. Then some crazy ideas popped in her head
