GIBRALTAR ROCK SEGMENT (4.8 miles) This segment is a rolling ramble featuring woods, prairies, and wide-ranging views of Lake Wisconsin, a pastoral valley, and the Baraboo Hills. It also crosses the Ice Age Trail Alliance’s Steenbock Preserve and the iconic Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area (which can be explored on foot although the parking lot is currently closed).

City of Lodi, meaning peaceful valley, is situated in a beautiful valley among gently rolling hills near the Wisconsin River. Spring Creek meanders through the city including the Main Street area. From Lake Wisconsin to Gibraltar Rock, the natural landscape surrounding Lodi affords breathtaking views.

CITY OF LODI SEGMENT (2.2 miles)This segment features a stroll across a 150-foot-long footbridge, its whimsical design based on the design of a 16th-century Chinese Rainbow Bridge. The segment ambles through Lodi’s historic downtown and weaves through charming parks and green spaces.
EASTERN LODI MARSH SEGMENT (3.1 miles) This segment, just south of Lodi, easily transitions hikers from an urban hike to a beautiful natural area with outstanding restored prairies and stunning views. Extend your hike at the Lodi Marsh Segment (1.8-miles) where this quiet hike highlights a remarkable prairie and a glacially sculpted landscape of dolomite hills and deep valleys.
FERN GLEN SEGMENT (1.3 miles) Just a few miles north of Lodi, this peaceful segment features dense woods, diverse vegetation, and a steep climb with a bench and beautiful oak at its apex.

A visit to Lodi, hailed as home of Susie the Duck, isn’t complete without feeding her offspring who congregate along the creek. Purchase corn for them at Spring Creek Park and peek into a stone nesting basket. Extend your Gibraltar Rock Segment outing with a ride on the Merrimac Ferry, Wisconsin’s only free ferry, which crosses the Wisconsin River between Sauk and Columbia counties. Happily, you can enjoy an ice cream cone on either side of the river bank at The Merrimac Scoop. Put your sense of direction to the test as you try the award-winning 15-acre corn maze at the Treinen Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch.
