About CBFS
The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) is government organisation for educating,
training and conducting research in the banking and financial services sector in Oman. It was
established in 1983 by a Royal Decree. CBFS operates under the supervision of the Central Bank
of Oman and is supported by the commercial banks operating in the Sultanate of Oman. Over the
past 35 years, CBFS has been offering a broad range of Diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s
programmes in areas related to Business Administration, Accounting, Auditing, Finance and
Banking in partnership with Pearson, Strathclyde Business School and University of Bradford.
Driven by the desire to cater for local needs, CBFS launched its own bachelor’s degree
programmes in 2014-15. It provides professional certifications and conducts customized and open
training courses in banking and finance related areas. It has developed an inclusive research culture
at the College initiating and supporting applied research and encourages consultancy activities.
CBFS contributes to the national economy by providing support in building sustainable capacity
within the community.

About Conference
CBFS International Conference on Banking, Finance and Business – ICBFB-2019 is organized by
College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) in strategic partnership with Central Bank of
Oman and National Institute of Securities Market (NISM) Mumbai, India. The conference will
highlight the issues related to the opportunities, challenges and global practices relevant to the
development of banking and financial sector; macro and micro economy and business practices. It
is expected that the conference outcome and recommendations will provide insightful directions
for effective policies, plans and strategies in the near future for banking, finance, economic and
business practices across the globe. The scholarly, conceptual, empirical and practitioner papers
that address the conference theme of integrating research, practice and teaching are welcomed.
The language of the conference will be English.
Conference Objectives
The main objective of the conference is to provide a forum to the academics and scholarly experts
and practitioners to share their knowledge, research and experiences for the development of
banking and finance, economics and business.

The topics are only indicative in nature and authors need not restrict to the below mentioned

Submission Guidelines
Authors should prepare their paper according to the following instructions in order to bring
uniformity and standard:
1. Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity and contribution.
2. The papers submitted must not have been previously published or currently submitted for
publication elsewhere.
3. Paper should only be about 10 - 15 pages and not more than 5000 words with the following
information:
a. Main Theme and Title of the paper
b. Name of the Author(s) including Affiliation
c. Contact details (office address, email and mobile number)
4. Abstract of maximum 250 words describing main contents of the paper in italic font and
should contain Keywords (minimum 3 and maximum 6) in italic font.
5. Document type: MS Word; Font Style: Times New Roman, Font size 12 pt with 1” margin
all sides and Paper Size: A4 with 1.0” line spacing.
6. Tables and graphs should be properly numbered with title at the top of the table and source
data of the table should be quoted at the bottom of the table.
7. Papers must cite all sources consulted. Submitted papers must use the APA (American
Psychological Association) style of referencing in bibliography.

8. Author(s) of the accepted paper has to agree to transfer copyright of the work to CBFS for
publication in conference proceedings.
9. All the authors of accepted paper are required to present their paper in the conference in
person.
10. The author who presents the paper will get a certificate of paper presentation.

Publication Opportunity
The abstract of all the accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings with ISBN
and will be indexed by EBSCO database. The selected high quality conference papers of registered
authors that fit the scope of the following international research journals indexed by Scopus/Web
of Sciences/ABDC List may be considered for publication with fast track review. These selected
papers will still be blind reviewed by the respective journals as per their guidelines.

Registration Fee
The registration fee for the paper presenters will be RO 40 (USD 100) and for students will be RO
20 (USD 50). There will not be any registration fee for presenting paper for students from Oman.
Upon the acceptance of the paper by the conference organiser, presenter should register through
online in the conference website before the deadline. The registration fee covers conference kit,
gala dinner, lunch and coffee/tea breaks with snack. Registration fees can be paid through online
web link provided in the conference web page.

Best Paper Awards
Certificate of best paper will be awarded to one paper under each sub-theme (Banking; Finance &

About Oman
Sultanate of Oman is located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia.
It is the third largest country in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with an area of 309,500
km2 and a population of around 4.61 million. Muscat is the capital of Oman and is known as the
financial capital of Oman. Arabic is the official language with a wide use of English language.
Oman is categorized as a high-income economy and ranks among the most peaceful countries in
the world according to the Global Peace Index.
The Sultanate geography is very diverse with white sand beaches, rolling desert dunes and rocky
mountains. Muscat was named the second best city to visit in the world in 2012 by the travel guide
publisher Lonely Planet, and also was chosen as the Capital of Arab Tourism of 2012. There are
many historical sites that are well preserved. The country is also developing as an adventure
tourism destination. There are many sightseeing places in Muscat including picturesque beaches,
wadis, beautiful mosques, forts and the Sultan’s palace, scenic gardens and natural parks. On the
coastline there are sea turtle reserves, crystal blue waters and villages. There is a wide variety of
indoor and outdoor activities practiced. The popular attractions in and around Muscat are Sultan
Qaboos Grand Mosque, Mohammed Al Ameen Mosque, Royal Opera House, Bait Al Zubair, Bait
Al Baranda, Qurum Beach and Natural Park, Qantab Beach, Yeti, Wadi Al Arbeieen, Algehfi
Valley, Amouage Perfumery, Natural History Museum, Ghalya’s Museum of Modern Art,
Children’s museum, PDO Planatorium, etc.
The currency of Oman is called “Rial” which is approximately 2.6 USD or 2 Euros per Rial. The
climate will be very warm in Muscat in the month of April. The average temperature’s 31ºC in
April, reaching highs of 34ºC in the peak of the afternoon. At night, temperatures comes down to
28ºC. Muscat has a wide choice of accommodation ranging from 5 star to budget. The hotels
