“CHOICES AND ABILITIES”
Gary Ryan Blair once wrote
that success is the intentional,
premeditated use of choice and
decision. Unless you choose—with
certainty—what it is you want, you accept
table scraps by default! He said that the
world is full with opportunity.
Clearly defined goals allow you to travel
toward another horizon that represents the
end of one experience and the transition to a
new and better existence. The objective is to
choose the right goals, and then to create the
necessary causes—the effects will follow!
Mr. Blair explains that the
DIFFERENCE between what one person or
another person achieves depends more on
goal CHOICES than on ABILITIES.
Each decision affects WHAT WE
BECOME. We form our decisions and our
decisions form us. There is no escaping
this; the smallest choices are important
because—over time—their cumulative
effect is enormous. Once you make a
decision, you start down a path to a new
destination. At the moment the decision is
made, your decision to pursue a goal alters
what you are becoming. Just one spin of the
lock’s dial—a single choice—can alter your
life, your destiny, your legacy.
How long have you dreamed of being,
having, or doing the right thing to deepen
your relationship with God? Think big, as
when it comes to your goals, the size of your
ambition does matter. What does matter is
making the CHOICE to become a disciple
of Christ by deepening your daily spiritual
walk with God.
All the best,
Jerre
“OPCIONES…HABILIDADES”
Jerre
From my heart to yours
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path. – Psalm.119:105 (KJV)
I want to share these promises
of the Word of God for your life, for
this November.
Jeremiah.29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward
you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and
not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Matthew.11:28, 29 28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29
Take
my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am
meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find
rest unto your souls.
Isaiah.40:29-31 29
He giveth power to the faint; and to them
that have no might he increaseth strength. 30
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
and the young men shall utterly fall: 31
But
they that wait upon the LORD shall renew
their strength; they shall mount up with
wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Philippians
But my God shall supply all your needs
according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus.
And remember that this month we will
have a wonderful opportunity to serve out

Desde mi corazón al tuyo
Lámpara es a mis pies tu palabra
y lumbrera a mi camino –
Sal.119:105
vuestras almas.
Isaías 40:29-31
40:29 El da esfuerzo al cansado, y
multiplica las fuerzas al que no tiene

40:31 pero los que esperan a Jehová tendrán
nuevas fuerzas; levantarán alas como las
águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán;
caminarán, y no se fatigarán.

Student MinistriesA Note From Bryce
"But when the Israelites cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up for them a deliverer, Ehud son of Gera, a left-handed man."
- Judges 3:15
The time of the judges is a unique time in Israel's history. Israel had just settled in to the holy land. They were a new kingdom, yet they did not have a king. Instead, God was their king, and when they needed human leadership, God would raise up a judge. The role of the judge depended on the needs of Israel, from military leadership to bringing the people back to God. As our youth continue to look at some lesser known Bible characters this month, we are going to hear some strange stories, a couple of which are about these judges. One of my favorite judges is Ehud. As Ehud is called by God, we are told that he is left-handed. This may seem as though it might be an unimportant detail, but it is because of this detail that he is able to sneak a sword into a meeting with the King of Moab undetected. As we read this story, we will look at how God calls each of us to use our unique gifts and talents. What is God calling you to use? Is God calling you to make beautiful works of art or sing in the choir? Is God calling you to comfort those that are sick or injured? Is God calling you to protect those who cannot protect themselves? Whatever it may be, you are uniquely gifted to do whatever God may be calling you to do.
Weekly Programs
Sunday School: Our Sunday School program meets Sunday mornings from 10-11 in the RZ Room. We are working on "Synago" - from the greek meaning, "Come Together." Throughout this study we will discover how in working as a group, we draw closer to each other and to God. RZ (Reality Zone): Our youth ministry offers youth an opportunity to discover what it means to be in a real, authentic relationship with the God who created, redeems, and sustains all things. This year we are studying "The B-Team" in which we learn about Biblical characters who have been lost to time. Middle school meets from 4:15-7:30, while high school meets from 5:30-8:15.
What to Know: Each year our community hosts a
NUMANA packaging event. Over the course of one Saturday,
we package hundreds of thousands of meals for those who
are hungry around the world. This year, we are packaging meals
for those in need here in Southwest Kansas. We will
package on Saturday, November 7 from 8:30-12:30.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to be the hands and
feet of Christ in service to the least fortunate in our midst. Would
you consider signing up for one of the two-hour shifts starting at
either 8:30 or 10:30? Our youth will be packaging from 10:30-
12:30.

SARAH SAYS
"Two people are better than one. ......
A rope made out of three cords isn't easily
broken." Ecclesiastes 4:9a; 12b
Do you remember the story about the child who was walking along the beach throwing the starfish back into the ocean? Someone came along and asked why she was doing that- it wouldn't make any difference since there were so many starfish. The child replied, "But it makes a difference to this one!" Dee McKnight shared with the staff a new twist on that story...the person who was throwing back the starfish would stop lean over and do something each time before the starfish was thrown into the water. When asked what he was doing? The person replied, "I'm texting my friends to come and help me throw the starfish back." Soon over 100 people filled the beach, all working together to toss the starfish back to the water and safety. Just as our scripture from Ecclesiastes says we are stronger with someone to help us. AND then even stronger when God is the center of that three cord rope of our life. When you want to do something major or are facing something beyond yourself- strengthen yourself with the rope of another person or many depending AND then put God in the middle of your challenge. It is harder to break such a bond! Be fortified by God's presence and others’ help each day!

UMW READING PROGRAM
Return to Sender by Julia Alvarez
Is it possible to be patriotic and do something illegal? This question reverberates throughout the book. The story is told from the viewpoint of two eleven-going-on-twelve-year-olds. Tyler lives on a farm in Vermont. He loves the farm and the swallows that come in summer and the constellations he sees through his grandfather’s telescope. Mari was born in Mexico but her two little sisters are American. They haven’t seen their mother for over a year while their father and uncles are working on the farm in Vermont. These two young people become friends and they learn about trust and truth, generosity and showing love for all people. They teach us that we must believe in each other and do everything we can to make life better for people everywhere. Pat Kolb Social Action (youth 2015)
An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff and Alex Tresniowski The author recounts how she first met Maurice, an eleven-year-old panhandler. She was walking to her apartment in Manhattan and he asked if she had a quarter. He was really hungry. She just walked past, then for some reason she went back. She didn’t give him a quarter, she took him to lunch. They went to McDonalds and she told him he could have anything he wanted. Then she asked if she could join him. Miss Laura met him for lunch again the next Monday, and the next and the next… Later on as they shopped, cooked, set the table and did laundry together, Maurice eagerly learned many everyday things. He learned about saving money, that it is important to be on time to school, and even how to blow his nose. Miss Laura routinely washed his clothes because he had no way to do it himself. One day he brought a big bag of soiled clothes for her to wash. Afterward, Maurice “was thrilled by how fresh and clean they were…He was taking on responsibilities and seeing to it that his family had clean clothes.” The author knew why she didn’t stop when she first saw Maurice. She says, “I ignored him, very simply, because he wasn’t in my schedule.” He was a child in serious trouble, but because she went back, Maurice learned to make wise choices and make a good life for himself and his family.
