Cause of DonationWe, Team Avishkar Hyperloop @IIT Madras, have given major upgrades to our pod in its third design iteration, and are planning to initiate the manufacturing process.
With our latest Pod 3.0 build, we will compete at the European Hyperloop Week, which is a global design competition cum conferences and round tables series meant to foster collaboration and ideas exchange in the Hyperloop community. It is a unique opportunity for us to engage with the infant yet potent industry.
With IITM’s platform and funding, we are using our talent to make an impact on the future. But, to realise our goals, we need alumnus like you to guide us, and fund our innovative research as well as our Pod 3.0.
All donations are 100% tax deductible under section 80G Indian Income Tax act, with no limit.
EHW is to be held at Valencia, Spain in July 19th-26th, 2021

Having cleared the first design round, the Team is
charged up to manufacture the Pod 3.0 and bag
the awards at the European Hyperloop Week.
Our latest Pod 3.0 has a power-to-weight ratio 2.5
times the previous pod. To achieve this, we used
innovative technologies such as Linear Induction
Motor, regenerative braking, eddy current
braking, in-house BMS, active suspension, robust
automated controls system and many more.
We completed the design of our Pod 2.0, with
cutting edge innovation. But, due to pandemic, all
the events were abruptly cancelled.
Team Avishkar Hyperloop is a diverse and ambitious student team of IIT Madras developing novel technologies to make Hyperloop a reality in India and worldwide.
Our research prowess and achievements have been covered extensively in the national media. With lots of hard work and much better designs, we are determined to make a dent on the world at large.

What is Hyperloop? It’s the next big thing in the transportation industry — the fifth mode of transportation.
Elon Musk proposed that by minimizing energy losses to air drag and friction, capsules can travel in a vacuum tube at speeds greater than 1000 km/h, conveying people or objects at high speed while being very efficient, thereby drastically reducing travel times over medium-range distances. Hyperloop can travel at speeds greater than an airplane and with a frequency of metro trains. The feasibility and scalability of the concept have been demonstrated multiple times.
The change is here!

Why Hyperloop? Our planet cannot sustain our practices much longer. Our current methods have become inadequate; we must invest in new sustainable technologies to take us into the future.
Hyperloop, one such method, is the biggest overhaul to long-distance land travel since the steam engine. System's energy needs are low enough to be met by the solar power generated on its own infrastructure. Thus can be self-sufficient and have a zero carbon footprint when implemented.
Moreover, with city congestion and demand for transportation set to keep rising, Hyperloop makes inter-city commute possible.

Braking Designs the brake mechanism of the pod
Controls & CommunicationsControls all the subsystems, responsible for communication between the pod & base station
Levitation Keeps the pod hovering, thus reducing friction
LIM & InverterDevelops the Linear Induction Motor(LIM) for contactless propulsion
Power SystemsDesigns the battery, and its Battery Management System(BMS)
Structures Designs the chassis & aerodynamic shell
SuspensionWorks on keeping the pod stable for a smooth and safe ride
BusinessHandles finances, sponsorships, social media, events, and other non-technical aspects.
Subsystems
Our team consists of 45 students and has been divided into eight different verticals, each focussing
on a different aspect of the pod, both technical and non-technical. The team is lead by two team
leads, followed by three group leads and a subsystem head for each subsystem.

The SpaceX CompetitionTeam Avishkar Hyperloop finished in top 10 at the finale of SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in July 2019 @ SpaceX HQ, California. We were the only Asian team among the 22 finalists from across the globe, which put us at the centre of focus among many spectators. More importantly, we received numerous helpful connects and suggestions from the other finalists.
The team was also invited to visit the Headquarters of Virgin Hyperloop One, where we got to know the plans and latest research the company was engaged in. They recently conducted the first-ever passenger ride in real-scale hyperloop pod.

This year’s design: Pod 3.0This is our most advanced one yet. Withstanding the challenges of the new paradigm and academic pressure, we have come up with the 3rd iteration of our pod, which is drastically better than its predecessors.

Alumni: Our all weather supportersThroughout the team's journey, Alumni have backed us in many ways. Their contributions to the team are invaluable. Without them, it would not have been possible to manufacture our pod and showcase our capabilities on an international stage. They have always believed in our team's potential and have trusted us with the difficult job of keeping up our Alma mater’s reputation. This gives us a lot of confidence and boosts our enthusiasm.
Aiming to win the competition, the team will soon start manufacturing the Hyperloop Pod in an attempt to revolutionize the future of transportation. To support us in our endeavour, IIT Madras has promised to support us with some funding. The International and Alumni Relations Cell is also helping us by running a campaign on the ‘Joy Of Giving’ portal. It would be extremely helpful if you could assist us in the same by contributing to our endeavours. We hope to make the insti and the alumni community across the globe proud.
