We all face situations everyday that we can either make better or worse. This slide set seeks to outline things that if we can check, will prevent the situation from getting worse due to us and keep us in a state where we can make it better. Others may behave in
a way that causes deterioration, but we must not. We need to have control of ourselves so we can be
agents for good. Which of these are easy for you to avoid? Which can you improve? Here is to being
better. Good luck on your journey.--Tom Curtis
When any of these jointly vilify, they pain and destruction multiply.
Get angry
It is not in anger's nature to help or create,
but to hurt and worsen any fate.
Raise your voice
Volume can only escalate and bring response from
a less calm state.
Assign blame
When we blame it rarely carries our own name.
Speak without thinking
Words without thought, say rarely what they
ought.
Become violent
Violence breeds it's own kind, while shutting down the
human mind.
Jump to conclusions
Conclusions made without facts reviewed, are usually wrong and
badly skewed.
Seek offense
Offense sought can be found,
regardless of merit or of ground.
Let emotion lead
Strong emotion out of check is on a path to break and
wreck.
Defend yourpride
To give the reins over to pride,
is to embark on a scary ride.
Return fire for
Fire has never itself retired, until it has full destruction
acquired.
Level accusation
To begin to accuse is guarantee civility to lose.
Begin Panic
To give panic place is to enter irrational ways.
