New Years Resolutions
Four Steps to Keep Yours!
Take Responsibility
Make the commitment, adopt a “can-do & will-do” attitude. Know that
challenges will arise, make a plan to overcome them. A stormy, cloudy day does not have to turn into a gloomy day for your progress.
Define & Plan
Identify the steps you need to take to meet your specific goal. If your goal is
to save a certain amount of money, maybe its best to leave your credit
cards at home. You could also make a monthly ‘payment’ to your savings
account just as you would a utility bill.
Say “No”
Often times the busyness of life is enough to throw our goals off track. Know when you need a
break from your schedule. Feeling rested and refreshed will give you strength to press forward
in your goal.
CommunicateShare your goal and plan with a
few close friends and family members. They may have similar goals to yours. Share the learning curve of re-forming your habits
with them. Problem solve together and celebrate milestones together.
You may also want to keep a personal journal. Journaling keeps a record of accomplishments and
challenges alike. Reflecting on your written feelings often
exposes a new truth or lesson you may have otherwise missed!
