Let’s Begin
We express who we are through what we make.
Not About The Tools“Our greatest invention in the past 200 years was not a particular gadget or tool but the invention of the scientific process itself.”
Kevin Kelly
“...a good creative experience is one that gives children the opportunity to solve problems and think
independently. When a child exercises flexible thinking in a project without a predetermined outcome, then the experience is a success.”

Learning journey more important than final product
Think about the following
What is the experience you're trying to create?
What are the learning goals and outcomes you want to
achieve in this space?
Who will lead the student experience?
Will you provide students a set curriculum or more open
ended projects?
What grade levels will your space target?
How will students access the space?
How will educators learn how to get the most from
the makerspace?
How will you assess the students on their projects?
Then you talk tools…..

What would our world look like if more people started projects, made a ruckus, and took risks?
8 Step Progression
Wonder - I wonder what happens if I…..
Notice - where is the talent? what works in other places?
Connect - everyone is lonely and has time and energy to spend on things that matter
Understand - why things succeed, why people do what they do, understand the mechanics where you want change to happen
Leap - there is no bridge or step by step approach. You have to jump to make it possible
Challenge - the status quo, the people you work with, what is possible
Transform - the world around you, make the change happen
Contribute - once you start leading you will find leaders all around you. Contribute and add value to them and vice versa.
