How Does Gravity Affect Tides?
May 13th 2015
Misha’s Breach
• Misha: What are tides? (We founda picture).
• Misha: Oh so lowtide is when the level of the water is low, and high tide is when the level of the water is high
High Tide Low Tide
Misha’s Brief•The Earth is mostly a solid rock, it cannot be easily stretched…BUT•The Earth’s oceans are liquid, which are fluid and more easily stretched
Let’s Take A Closer Look…
• There are two high tides and two low tides every day
• So about 6 hours in between high tide and low tides
Spring Tides and Neap tides occur twice a month
Spring Tides
Neap Tides

Content Take Away
• Tides occur due to gravitational pull form the Moon and the Sun (but mostly the moon)
• We experience high to low tides every 6 hours• Spring Tides is when the high tides are really
high and the low tides are very low • Neap Tides is when we do not have very high
or very low tides

• Remember when you are presenting a brief, you must ask a question that your team members MUST answer
