CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SAMPLES On 26th February 2013, TECNALIA received three test specimens of laminated glass with 0.38 mm EVA interlayer of internal reference 900031E/A measuring (300 x 100 x 5+5) mm and referred to as:
«EVALAM VISUAL»
TEST REQUESTED The test requested is the high-temperature test in accordance with Procedure A of clause 5 of UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard "Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Part 4: Test methods for durability»
TEST CARRIED OUT The test involves placing the glass in an oven and maintaining it there for 16 hours at a temperature of between (100±2) ºC. The test specimens are allowed to cool to room temperature and the appearance of any faults in the interlayer is then assessed (bubbles, cloudiness, etc.).

RESULTS No faults were found in the interlayer in any of the test specimens. Requirement: In accordance with clause 5.1.2. of UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 standard, in the visual evaluation of the test specimens of laminated safety glass that does not included plastics glazing materials, no fault whatsoever must be found (bubbles, delamination, haze or cloudiness).
RESULT: SATISFACTORY The following photos show test specimens after the test.

TEST REQUESTED The test requested is the humidity test with condensation in accordance with clause 6 of UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard "Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Part 4: Test methods for durability»
TEST CARRIED OUT The test involves placing the test specimens vertically over water in a closed chamber and maintaining them there for two weeks at a temperature of (52.5±2.5) ºC. These conditions give a relative humidity of about 100% and lead to water condensing on the surface of the test specimen. The test specimens are allowed to cool and dry to room temperature and they are inspected to assess the appearance of any faults in the interlayer (bubbles, cloudiness, etc.).

RESULTS Slight opacity appeared on the edges of the three test specimens, but less than 15 mm from the edge. Requirement: In accordance with clause 5.2. of UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 standard, in the visual evaluation of the test specimens of laminated safety glass, no fault whatsoever must be found (bubbles, delamination, haze, cloudiness).

«EVALAM VISUAL»
TEST REQUESTED The test requested is the radiation test in accordance with Method A of clause 7 of UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard "Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Part 4: Test methods for durability»
TEST CARRIED OUT The test consisted of submitting the glass to 2,000 hours of radiation . To this end, the test specimens were placed 1,100 mm away from the 16 ULTRAVITALUX lamps that formed a field of (1 x 1) m. The positioning of the test specimens was as established by standard UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 and their temperature was maintained at (45±5)ºC. In order to evaluate the durability, the light transmission spectrum was measured between 380 nm and 780 nm before the test and after 2,000 hours of exposure. Three transmittance measurements were taken of each test specimen and the average of these was calculated. From the average transmittance spectra, the luminous transmittance was calculated for each of the test specimens received, in accordance with the provisions of standard UNE-EN 410:2011. The test specimens were also inspected in order to check for the presence of faults (bubbles, cloudiness, etc.)

Table 2: Difference in luminous transmittance After the 2,000 hours of exposure, no faults were found in the interlayer in any of the test specimens. Requirement : In accordance with clause 5.3. of UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 standard and clause 5.3. of UNE-EN ISO 12543-3:2011 standard, the luminous transmittance of the laminated safety glass and laminated glass must not change by more than ± 3% when the initial light transmittance is greater than 65%, or by ± 2% in absolute value if the initial light transmittance is less than or equal to 65%. Equally, in the visual evaluation of the test specimens, no fault whatsoever must be found (bubbles, delamination, haze or cloudiness).

On the 2nd October 2014 TECNALIA received four test specimens of laminated glass from the company HORNOS INDUSTRIALES PUJOL, S.A., referenced as follows:
«4 mm toughened + 4 mm toughened with 2 sheets of Evalam Visual»
These samples are made of two toughened glass panes of 4 mm and 2 sheets of EVA interlayer and their dimensions are (876±2 x 1,938±2) mm, with a total thickness that ranges from 7.95 to 8.05 mm. TEST REQUESTED
The test requested is that of impact resistance in accordance with UNE-EN 12600:2003 «Glass in building – Pendulum tests – Impact test method and classification for flat glass». The class requested is Class 1. TEST CARRIED OUT
The test involves placing the glass in a fastening frame and impacting on it from one, two or three heights, depending on the targeted class. To do this, an impactor of (50±0.1) kg has been used comprising two round section tyres with flat tread that were previously inflated to a pressure of (0.35±0.02) MPa and raised to drop height, alter which they have been stabilized using the tensed suspension bar and aligned with the impactor shaft. The test apparatus was last calibrated on the 4th January 2013. The UNE-EN 12600:2003 standard states that an impact must be applied on 4 different test specimens from each of the following heights, which correspond to different classifications:

These samples are made of two floated glass panes of 6 mm and 2 sheets of EVA interlayer and their dimensions are (876±2 x 1,938±2) mm, with a total thickness that ranges from 11.93 to 12.01 mm. TEST REQUESTED
The test requested is that of impact resistance in accordance with UNE-EN 12600:2003 «Glass in building – Pendulum tests – Impact test method and classification for flat glass». The class requested is Class 1.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SAMPLES On 26th February 2013, TECNALIA received three test specimens of laminated glass with 0.76 mm EVA interlayer of internal reference 900031E/A measuring (300 x 100 x 5+5) mm and referred to as:

Apart from the received samples, the thermal performance has also been evaluated on the following configurations:

CALCULATION REQUESTED The service requested is the calculation of the thermal transmittance U Value of vertical glazing in accordance with UNE-EN 673:2011 standard «Glass in building - Determination of thermal transmittance (U value) - Calculation method».
CALCULATION CARRIED OUT
The calculation method used is suitable to determine the thermal transmittance of glazing with flat and parallel surfaces. The edge effects due to the thermal bridge through the spacer of a sealed glazing unit or through the window frame are not included. Furthermore, energy transfer due to solar radiation is not taken into account. The U value is the parameter which characterizes the heat transfer through the central part of the glazing without edge effects, and states the steady-state density of heat transfer rate per temperature difference between the environmental temperatures on each side. The U value is given in watts per square metre Kelvin [W/(m2K)].

For ordinary vertical soda lime glass surfaces and for internal free convection, the value of the external heat transfer coefficient he is 25 W/(m2K) and the value of the internal heat transfer coefficient hi is 7.7 W/(m2K). For glazing with more than one gas space, the U value calculation shall be performed by an iteration procedure. The radiation conductance is given by:

RESULTS
The thermal conductivity of soda lime glass is 1.0 W/mK. This value is taken from UNE-EN 527-1:2012. The thermal conductivity of the laminated glass Ethylene Vinyl Acetate interlayer used is 0.34 W/mK; this value is taken from material properties general databases. The corrected emissivity considered on all the surfaces of the laminated glass is that of a surface of base soda lime silicate glass which in accordance with standard UNE-EN 673:2011 is 0.837.
Taking into account this data and the formula (1), the result of the calculation of the thermal transmittance U for the laminated glass unit referred as «EVALAM VISUAL/A» is as follows:

ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE DATA In the absence of specific measured performance data from which to calculate Rw, C and Ctr, UNE-EN 12758:2011 standard «Glass in building - Glazing and airborne sound insulation - Product descriptions and determination of properties» gives airborne sound insulation values in octave band for a wide range of glass products.

CARACTERISTICAS DE LAS MUESTRAS El 10 de Mayo de 2012, Hornos Pujol S.A. ha laminado una muestra de vidrio con las siguientes características: Tipo de muestra: Vidrio laminado transparente Espesor: 5+5mm Dimensiones: 200 x 200mm Material de laminado: EVALAM VISUAL Referencia: - PRUEBA SOLICITADA La prueba solicitada es una comparación de la resistencia al agua de Evalam Visual y una muestra laminada en PVB PRUEBAS REALIZADAS La prueba consiste en romper una muestra de 200x200mm laminada con Evalam Visual y otra muestra de iguales dimensiones laminada con PVB. Las roturas deben ser lo más similares posibles. Posteriormente se introducen ambas en la máquina de “boiling test” y se lanza un ciclo de 2h a 100ºC. RESULTADO Después del ciclo de boiling, se comprueba que la muestra laminada con Evalam Visual permanece más entera y estructurada que la de PVB. RESULTADO: SE DEMUESTRA LA MAYOR RESISTENCIA DE EVALAM VISUAL FRENTE AL AGUA QUE EL PVB

TEST REQUESTED The test requested is the high-temperature test in accordance with Procedure A of clause 5 of UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard "Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Part 4: Test methods for durability»
TEST CARRIED OUT The test involves placing the glass in an oven and maintaining it there for 16 hours at a temperature of between (100±2) ºC. The test specimens are allowed to cool to room temperature and the appearance of any faults in the interlayer is then assessed (bubbles, cloudiness, etc.).

RESULTS In one of the three test specimens a small delamination appeared on the black part, but less than 15 mm from the original edge. Requirement : In accordance with clause 5.1.2. of UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 standard, in the visual evaluation of the test specimens of laminated safety glass that does not included plastics glazing materials, no fault whatsoever must be found (bubbles, delamination, haze or cloudiness).

TEST REQUESTED The test requested is the humidity test with condensation in accordance with clause 6 of UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard "Glass in building. Laminated glass and laminated safety glass. Part 4: Test methods for durability»
TEST CARRIED OUT The test involves placing the test specimens vertically over water in a closed chamber and maintaining them there for two weeks at a temperature of (52.5±2.5) ºC. These conditions give a relative humidity of about 100% and lead to water condensing on the surface of the test specimen. The test specimens are allowed to cool and dry to room temperature and they are inspected to assess the appearance of any faults in the interlayer (bubbles, cloudiness, etc.).

RESULTS No faults were found in the interlayer in any of the test specimens. CARACTERÍSTICAS DE LAS MUESTRAS El día 12 de julio de 2012 se recibieron en TECNALIA, procedentes de la empresa HORNOS INDUSTRIALES PUJOL, tres probetas de vidrio laminado de dimensiones (300 x 150 x 4+4.1) mm referenciado como:
«NEGRO - BLANCO - MATE»
El cliente no ha facilitado ficha técnica del producto ensayado.
ENSAYO SOLICITADO
El ensayo solicitado es el ensayo de radiación de acuerdo con el Método A del apartado 7 de la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 «Vidrio para la edificación. Vidrio laminado y vidrio laminado de seguridad. Parte 4: Métodos de ensayo de durabilidad»
ENSAYO REALIZADO
El ensayo ha consistido en someter los vidrios a 2.000 horas de radiación. Para ello, se han colocado las probetas a 1.100 mm de distancia de las 16 lámparas ULTRAVITALUX que forman un campo de (1 x 1) m. La colocación de las probetas es la que establece la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 y su temperatura se ha mantenido a (45±5)ºC. Para evaluar la durabilidad, se ha medido el espectro de transmisión luminosa entre 380 nm y 780 nm antes del ensayo y tras 2.000 horas de exposición. Se han realizado un mínimo de tres medidas de transmisión de cada probeta y se ha calculado el promedio de las mismas. A partir de este espectro de transmisión promedio se ha calculado para cada una de las probetas recibidas la transmisión luminosa de acuerdo con lo establecido en la norma UNE-EN 410:2011. También se han inspeccionado las probetas para comprobar si hay presencia de fallos (burbujas, opacidad, etc.)

las probetas.

Requisito: De acuerdo con el apartado 5.3. de la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 la transmisión luminosa del vidrio laminado de seguridad no debe cambiar más de ± 3% de su valor antes de la exposición para una transmisión luminosa inicial mayor del 65%, o de ± 2% de su valor absoluto para una transmisión luminosa inicial menor o igual al 65%. Igualmente en la evaluación visual de las probetas no se debe encontrar fallo alguno (burbujas, delaminación, neblina u opacidad).
RESULTADO: SATISFACTORIO En las siguientes gráficas se muestran los espectros de transmisión promedios de cada probeta de ensayo antes y después del envejecimiento.

ENSAYO SOLICITADO El ensayo solicitado es el ensayo de radiación de acuerdo con el Método A del apartado 7 de la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 «Vidrio para la edificación. Vidrio laminado y vidrio laminado de seguridad. Parte 4: Métodos de ensayo de durabilidad»
ENSAYO REALIZADO El ensayo ha consistido en someter los vidrios a 2.000 horas de radiación. Para ello, se han colocado las probetas a 1.100 mm de distancia de las 16 lámparas ULTRAVITALUX que forman un campo de (1 x 1) m. La colocación de las probetas es la que establece la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 y su temperatura se ha mantenido a (45±5)ºC. Para evaluar la durabilidad, se ha medido el espectro de transmisión luminosa entre 380 nm y 780 nm antes del ensayo y tras 2.000 horas de exposición. Se han realizado un mínimo de tres medidas de transmisión de cada probeta y se ha calculado el promedio de las mismas. A partir de este espectro de transmisión promedio se ha calculado para cada una de las probetas recibidas la transmisión luminosa de acuerdo con lo establecido en la norma UNE-EN 410:2011.

También se han inspeccionado las probetas para comprobar si hay presencia de fallos (burbujas, opacidad, etc.)
RESULTADOS A continuación se detallan los resultados de transmisión luminosa antes del envejecimiento y tras 2.000 horas de exposición.

La diferencia entre la transmisión luminosa inicial y final expresada en (%) para la referencia “ACID WHITE” mientras que para “POLAR WHITE” se expresa en tanto por uno; estos valores vienen recogidos en la siguiente tabla:

Tras las 2.000 horas de exposición, no se aprecian fallos en el intercalador en ninguna de las probetas.

Requisito : De acuerdo con el apartado 5.3. de la norma UNE-EN ISO 12543-2:2011 la transmisión luminosa del vidrio laminado de seguridad no debe cambiar más de ± 3% de su valor antes de la exposición para una transmisión luminosa inicial mayor del 65%, o de ± 2% de su valor absoluto para una transmisión luminosa inicial menor o igual al 65%. Igualmente en la evaluación visual de las probetas no se debe encontrar fallo alguno (burbujas, delaminación, neblina u opacidad).
RESULTADO: SATISFACTORIO En las siguientes gráficas se muestran los espectros de transmisión promedios de cada probeta de ensayo antes y después del envejecimiento.
