The Council Bluffs Community School District is pleased to provide this snapshot of the 2015-2016 Annual Report to the Community. We invite you to see a more detailed report at www.cb-schools.org. The year’s theme of “Defying Gravity” illustrated all the ways in which the school district, staff members, and, most importantly, students are launching to new heights.
The 4-year high school graduation rate has increased annually for the past 10 years. A total of 16 students earned the status of AP Scholar for their success on Advance Placement Exams. The Class of 2016 earned $12.8 million in scholarships. All students in 11 schools were eligible to receive free breakfast & lunch through the USDA Community Eligibility Program. At the high school level, there were 2,682 enrollments in college-credit Advance Placement and Concurrent Enrollment courses, giving students a free head start on their college degree or certificate program. 951 students participated in the Summer Exploration Program funded by the Iowa West Foundation. Dr. Martha Bruckner was named the School Administrators of Iowa “Superintendent of the Year.” The Council Bluffs community was named a national finalist for the All-America City Award for successful partnership efforts in the program theme of “Working Together to Support Children in School and in Life.” A dedication ceremony was held to commemorate the renovation of Lewis & Clark Elementary and the completion of all elementary school renovations.
