Heavy metal music dates back to the end of the 1960’s in Britain
Inspired by the sounds of Blues-Rock and Psychedelic Rock
The style emerged due to the growing number of people going against the norm.
Many viewed the music as a protest to the social condition and the underlying anxiety felt by many people
During the 70’s Black Sabbath had emerged and many consider them to be the first true heavy metal band.
The early 1980s saw a revival of metal with bands like Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue among others.
By around 1990 most heavy metal had evolved into other rock genres.
