Generations OnLine: A Learning Program for Older Adults with Little Computer
Experience
If you are an older adult who has been looking for a
friendly environment in which to learn
basic computer and internet skills, this program is
for you! Senior Service America, Inc. has made it
possible for The Rockland County Office for the
Aging to offer free training using the Generations
OnLine web‐based tutorials. Peer coaching is fun,
friendly and provided for seniors by seniors! Call
Ella Hill at 821‐0161 to enroll in one of the continu‐
ous coaching sessions being held at the main
Library.
Job Readiness Workshops
The Library Association of Rockland
County is offering Job Readiness
Workshops at four libraries in the county during
the week of March 9. The final one will be held at
HKDPL on Saturday, March 13, 11am ‐ 2pm. Topics
covered will include basic skills needed for online
job searching, resume preparation and updating,
interview techniques, and strategies for finding
jobs in your area. In addition to group
presentations, there will be opportunities to
interact individually with some of the presenters,
so bring your resume and your questions.
Magazines and Machinery Don’t Mix!
The library’s automated return system is an intricate series of conveyor belts. Magazines placed into
the automated return get caught in the belts, tearing magazines beyond repair and jamming the
conveyor system. Repairs to the conveyor and the materials are costly. We have placed signs saying
“No automated return. Return to inside circ. desk or in blue book drop outside” at the return slot and
on each magazine Effective immediately, we are instituting a $2.00 charge for each magazine
returned in the automated slot.
