annual homecoming. Bring
enough food for your family-
plus one! Our own Bishop
Hope Morgan Ward will be
preaching our 194th year! It
will be a joyful day, for sure!
Bishop Hope Morgan Ward is
the Resident Bishop of the
Raleigh Area, which includes
the North Carolina Confer-
ence in the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United
Methodist Church.
Hope discovered a love for ministry and mission as Direc-
tor of Youth and Missions at Fairmont UMC in Raleigh,
North Carolina. To read more about Bishop Ward, visit

Hi everyone! *wave*
I’m MacKenzie, the
Duke Intern for
Fletchers Chapel UMC
and I’m very excited
to get to know all of
you! I spent most of
my early life in Wilkesboro, NC which you
might know of if you are familiar with
Merlefest, the bluegrass music festival. After
living there for several years, my family
moved to Mooresville, NC with my dad’s job
when I was getting ready to go into 6th
grade.
Even in the short time I’ve been here, Fletch-
ers Chapel reminds me a lot of my home
church in Mooresville, Rocky Mount UMC,
which is where I first recognized my call to
ministry. I went to undergrad at Pfeiffer Uni-
versity where I obtained my Bachelors de-
gree in Religion and Practical Theology with a
minor in Vocal Music Performance.
I just began my muffler year at Duke Divinity
School, where I am not only involved in clas-
ses, but also with my Rural Fellows Scholar-
ship Cohort and the Duke Divinity School
Glee Club. I am so excited to see what this
year holds for me not only at Duke Divinity
School, but also at Fletchers Chapel UMC!

flowers in the church for Homecoming. We will continue
to support the Southern High School football team in
various capacities as they start their season. Come join
us on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the Fel-
lowship Hall for fellowship and Bible Study as we contin-
