Known as the largest city by population in China, Shanghai is a place that never stays still. It is known for its commerce, culture, media, fashion and technology.

A place where you will always see people and where it seems like they do not know the meaning of “rest”, since it is a major financial center and the busiest container port in the world.

There are two airports in Shanghai, Hong Qiao Airport and Pu Dong Airport If you are arriving direct from EU, UK, Middle East, Africa, USA, Latin America, etc. you will almost certainly land at Pudong airport.

If you are flying from another city already within China, perhaps Pudong; perhaps Hongqiao. So be sure to check.

If you will be visiting printer factories, ink or media factories, etc. your flight will probably go from Hongqiao airport; but some domestic flights also leave from Pudong airport.

Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hongkong, and most big cities of these sizes have a complete metro system. Most Chinese metro lines have automatic ticket machines with instructions in English.

All subway stops in these cities are bi-lingual: Chinese and English.

Taxis are the most popular way of transportation in here, but as we have said before, most Chinese drivers will not be able to speak in English to you, so remember to have with you the address for your hotel written in Chinese, so you will have no problems arriving to your destination.

AND have the telephone number of your destination. Be sure that the phone number is correct. It also helps to have the web site of the hotel or the company you will visit, so the cab driver can double-check, since some secretaries outside China are not adept at finding the address written in Mandarin to put on their traveler’s info sheets.

Shanghai has also amazing buildings and great architectonic designs, here you can find very traditional Chinese constructions, some remaining examples of Art Deco architecture, or either the most modern designs you have ever seen.
