Good!morning:!

A!few!updates!and!celebrations!below!for!you!to!read!today.!!!GMS$Talent$Show:!The!GMS/Frederick!School!Talent!Show!is!this!Friday!at!7:00!PM!at!GMS.!!We!hope!you!can!come!and!enjoy!the!talent!of!our!D46!students.!!It!looks!to!be!a!great!show!!!!A$Message$from$Mr.$Thomas...A$huge$celebration$for$our$GMS$students.!There!aren't!sufficient!words!that!can!truly!describe!how!proud!and!thrilled!I!am!to!announce!that!our!GMS!Wind!Ensemble!was!accepted!and!invited!to!perform!at!the!University!of!Illinois!in!the!2015!SuperState!Band!Festival.!!This!is!a!crowning!achievement!in!the!band!world!and!it!simply!cannot!be!overstated!what!an!accomplishment!this!is.!!Each!year,!HUNDREDS!of!middle!school!and!high!school!bands!submit!recordings!to!the!University!of!Illinois!who!then!send!these!recordings!to!evaluators!around!the!country.!!Last!year,!11!bands!were!selected!to!perform.!!This!year,!only!EIGHT!middle!school!bands!were!considered!elite!enough!to!perform!at!this!highly!selective!event.!!

The!eight!middle!school!bands!will!perform!on!Friday,!May!8th!at!the!University!of!Illinois!on!the!Great!Stage!in!the!Krannert!Center.!!

This!festival!is!considered!by!all!music!educators!in!Illinois!to!be!one!of,!if!not!the!highest!achievement!in!concert!music,!and!obviously!the!vast!majority!do!not!get!the!opportunity!to!actually!participate.!

An!informational!meeting!will!be!held!on!Wednesday,!April!15th!at!6pm!in!the!GMS!Library.!This!meeting!is!for!all!current!7th!grade!students!and!parents!that!are!interested!in!getting!more!information!about!next!years!trip.!!An!early!registration!discount!does!apply!if!you!register!for!the!trip!this!year.!
