BARGES
Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering lightSilently flows the river to the sea
And the barges too go silently
CHORUS:Barges, I would like to go with youI would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges have you treasures in your holdDo you fight with pirates brave and bold
Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering lightStarboard shines green and port is glowing red
I can see them flickering far aheadCHORUS
How my heart longs to sail away with you
As you sail across the ocean blueBut I must sit beside my window dearAnd watch you sail away from here
CHORUS
Out of my window looking in the nightI can see the barges’ flickering lightHarbor ahead and anchorage in viewI will find my resting place with you
CHORUS
Away from my window on into the nightI will watch ‘til they are out of sight
Taking their cargo far across the seaHow I’d wish that someday they would take me
CHORUS
Out of my window looking through the nightI can see the barges' flickering lightPeople are sailing far and far awayAnd I hope to go with them one day

But ahead of me - There was a tree A great big tree - Oh, Glory Be!
But the lowest branch - Was ten feet up I'd have to trust - My luck to jump

'Cause I caught that branch - On the way back down CHORUS

ON THE LOOSE Judith Keller
CHORUS: On the loose to climb a mountain, on the loose where I am
freeOn the loose to live my life the way I think my life should beFor I've only got a moment and this whole world yet to see
I'll be looking for tomorrow on the loose
Have you ever watched the sunrise turn the sky completely red?
Have you slept beneath the moon and stars, a pine bough for your bed?
Do you sit and talk with friends though not a word is ever said?
Then you're just like me and you've been on the loose CHORUS
There's a trail that I'll be hiking just to see where it might go
Many places yet to visit, many people yet to knowAnd in following my dreams, I will live and I will grow
On a trail that's waiting out there on the loose CHORUS
Have you ever heard a whippoorwill singing to the morning dew?
When you hear the bells ringing, do you know they ring for you?
And when you look back on the past, all I really askIs to remember me when you're out on the loose CHORUS
So in search of love and laughter I'll be traveling 'cross this land
Never sure of where I'm going for I haven't any planAnd in time when you are ready, come and join me, take
my handAnd together we'll share life out on the loose CHORUS
As I sit and watch the sunset and the daylight slowly fadesI am thinking of tomorrow and the friendships we have
madeI will value them for always and I hope you'll do the same
And forever we'll explore life on the loose CHORUS

First cheek to cheek then jaw to jawWe sipped that cider through a straw
Tee hee haw haw
Then all at once That darn straw slipped
Then we sipped cider lip to lipTee hee haw haw
That's how I got
My mother-in-lawAnd 49 kids to call me ma
Tee hee haw haw
The moral of the story isDon't you sip cider through a straw
DRINK MILK!
THE SKEETER SONG
I woke up Sunday morning. I looked up on the wall; The skeeters and the bedbugs were having a game of ball.
The score was 3 to nothing. The skeeters were ahead. The bedbugs hit a home-run and knocked me out of bed.
CHORUS:
I’m singin’ eener, meener and a minor moe.Catch a whipper, whopper by his toe.
And if he hollar, hollar, hollars don’t let him go.I’m singin’ eener, meener and a minor moe.
I went downstairs for breakfast. I ordered ham and eggs.
I also got a pickle. The juice ran down my legs.CHORUS
My mother is an agent. My father is a spy.And I’m the little big mouth who told the FBI.
CHORUS
SMILE SONG
I’ve got something in my pocket,That belongs across my face,I keep it very close at hand,In a most convenient place.
I‘m sure you couldn’t guess it,If you guessed a long, long while.
So I’ll take it out and put it on,It’s a great big happy smile.
SOFTLY FALLS
Softly falls the light of dayAs our campfire fades away.
Silently each Scout should ask,
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright? Can I guiltless rest tonight?
Have I done and have I dared,
Everything to be prepared.
I have kept my honor bright,I can guiltless rest tonight.
I have done and I have dared,
Everything to be prepared.
TAPS
Day is done, gone the sunFrom the lakes, from the hills
From the sky
All is well, safely restGod is nigh
THERE WAS A GIRL SCOUT(Tune of BINGO)

THIS WAY VALERIE(Tune of SHORTENIN’ BREAD)
This game works best with a fairly large group. You will need to have the girls get a buddy and then form 2 lines with the buddies facing each other. As soon as you have them in 2 straight lines, they can start singing the song:
This way Valerie, that way Valerie,This way Valerie, all the way home.
Girls join hands with their buddy and sing this part while
moving arms in a sawing motion – back and forth
Strut Miss Lucy, strut Miss Lucy,Strut Miss Lucy, all the way home.
Head girl in one line passes between the 2 lines making up
any movement she wishes and falls in at the foot of the opposite line
Here comes another one, just like the other one.
Here comes another one, all the way home.
Buddy of the previous girl copies the movements just done by her buddy as she passes between the 2 lines and then
joins the foot of the opposite line.
Both lines move up a little bit and repeat the song over and over and over again until everyone has had a turn.
The girls will eventually start getting quite creative in their
actions if you play this many times.
THREE CHARTREUSE BUZZARDS
Three chartreuse buzzards,Three chartreuse buzzards
Sitting in a dead tree,Sitting in a dead tree

Oh look, one has re-turnedLet us re-joice
One…Two…
Three chartreuse buzzards,Three chartreuse buzzards
Sitting in a dead tree,Sitting in a dead treeNow they’re all here

WAY DOWN YONDER
Way down yonder not far awayA blue jay died of a whooping cough
He whooped and he whooped
and he whooped so hardHe blew his head and his tail right off
Second verse same as the first
A little bit louder and whole lot worse
WHENE’ER YOU MAKE A PROMISE

And when made, engrave it upon your heart
PATRIOTIC SONGS
AMERICA THE BEAUTIFULKatharine Lee Bates, Samuel Ward
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhoodFrom sea to shining sea!
MY COUNTRY ‘TIS OF THEE
Rev. Samuel F. Smith
My country, 'tis of Thee,Sweet Land of Liberty
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountain sideLet Freedom ring.
STAR SPANGLED BANNERFrancis Scott Key
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
YOU’RE A GRAND OLD FLAGGeorge Cohan
You're a grand old flag,You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem ofThe land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.
Ev'ry heart beats true'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,Keep your eye on the grand old flag.

For giving me the things I needThe sun and the rain and the apple seed
Yes, He's been good to me
I owe the Lord so muchFor everything I see
I'm certain if it weren't for HimThere'd be no apples on this limb
Yes, He's been good to me
Oh here am I neath a blue blue skyA doin' as I please
Singin' with my feathered friends,Hummin with the bees
Yes, He's been good to me
I wake up every day as happy as can beBecause I know that with His care
My apple trees They will still be there
Oh the Lord is good to me
And every seed that growsShall grow into a tree
And one day soon there'll be apples thereFor every one in the world to share
