Working as a waiter Sergio Deltodesco left school at 14 to go and work as a chef in his hometown of Domodossola, northern Italy. During his early 20s he worked aboard an American cruise ship ‘The Oceananic’ it was at this time he met his soon to be wife Sylvia Kearley a young Geordie working in Jersey St Hellier. He came to the north east and the couple wed at Newcastle Registry office in December 1972. Shortly after the family moved to Domodossola.Sergio continued to work in Switzerland before returning to Newcastle in 1979 with his two daughters Devra and Natalie.

Working hard to support his family, Sergio began to make pasta using traditional ingredients. Importing machines from Italy, Sergio began to supply restaurants in the north east with traditionally made Italian pasta. It was in 1986 that Sergio realised his dream of opening his first restaurant here in Newcastle moving to its current premises in 2000 with support from Sylvia and his son Daniele. Since then the Deltodesco family have continued to create new and exciting dishes using traditional ingredients and methods all under the watchful eye of chef Sergio.
