Verification Services (Chipright)
CHIPRIGHT
• Research Question:– Research new verification process for micro-chip
development• Challenge for an indigenous company• Kick started research via Innovation voucher
• Pre-cursor to our longer term view R&D Activity – Innovation partnership
– Opportunity to evaluate “working relationship” with GMIT– Links to Engineering Department
» Viewpoint of what is achievable when working with them» Viewpoint of their courses, strong skills to identify in graduates
– Opportunity to build connections & relationships with GMIT
CHIPRIGHT
• How did it work out?– Identify a research partner and “agree up
front on a goal” for the research– We had to “ramp-up” the researcher and inject
ideas into the process• Streamlined it to “narrow” what we wanted solved
– Researcher worked on the process• Continuous email / communication
• Gave us a degree of control over it • Report generated
CHIPRIGHT
• Identified a good level of software knowledge within Engineering Dept. – Software like JAVA – Can be used to develop graphical user
interfaces• Identified this as something to leverage after the
core research was implemented• Different topic entirely to what we looked at
originally• So used the Innovation voucher a 2nd time
