Hadassah’s Israel Milestone Mission October 7-14, 2018

Day 1: Sunday, October 7, 2018: DEPARTURE
• We depart the United States on our overnight flight to Israel.

Day 2: Monday, October 8, 2018: WELCOME TO ISRAEL!
• Individual arrivals throughout the day and transfers to hotel. Hotel transfers are included for all
arrivals today.
• This evening, we will open our celebration with a Shecheyanu ceremony overlooking the
Mediterranean and Tel Aviv, followed by a welcome ceremony at Trask, including welcome
introductions, a keynote speaker, entertainment and dinner.

Day 3: Tuesday, October 9, 2018: ZIONISM, HIGH-TECH & CULTURE
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Listen to an opening lecture on Zionism, Hadassah and Israel presented by our Scholar-
in-Residence, Gil Troy.
• Take a special walking tour on the new newly opened Independence Trail.
• Explore the incredible progress made since the declaration and foundation of the state to
today’s start-up nation with a visit to the Taglit Innovation Center, where we meet with a
young Israeli entrepreneur.
• Lunch (included) in a local restaurant.
• Choose from Culture Tracks A,B,C, or D:
o Track 1-A: Jewish Humor exhibition at the Diaspora Museum
o Track 1-B: Rabin Center - History through the prism of a man, a movement and a
country
o Track 1-C: The newly opened Agam Museum
o Track 1-D: Visit to the Haaretz Museum
• Evening free in Tel Aviv, with dinner on your own. Recommendations and assistance with
reservations will be available at hotels.

Day 4: Wednesday, October 10, 2018: HADASSAH’S IMPACT IN THE NORTH
• Breakfast and check out of our hotel. (Luggage will be collected and transferred directly
to our hotel in Jerusalem).
• Visit and programming in Meir Shfeya, celebrating Youth Aliyah. (Option for early
departure for those volunteering to work in the village)
✓ Marlene Post Clinic dedication
✓ In anticipation of our visit to Atlit, a special “Raquela Birth of Israel” presentation
• Travel to the naval base in Haifa, including a
special program with base leadership.
• Lunch on the base (pending confirmation).
• Drive by the site where Hadassah opened the
first hospital in Haifa at Bnei Tzion in 1922,
which remained in operation until 1931, when
operational control was given to the Haifa
Jewish Community Association.
• Visit Atlit, a former detention compound for
Jewish immigrants who arrived in Israel illegally
during the British Mandate period and were
cared for by Hadassah-trained nurse Raquela.
• We take part in a moving meeting with Israelis
that were detained there during the time, as well as those that helped the Jews coming to
Israel to escape the terror in Europe.
• Enjoy a winery dinner with live musical entertainment.
• We travel to Jerusalem and check into our hotel.

Day 5: Thursday, October 11, 2018: VISIONARIES ALL
Full Day Nurses track!
• Breakfast at our hotel. • We begin our day with an exciting visit to Tzur Baher an East Jerusalem suburb, to observe their
program on a heart-healthy lifestyle taught to women in the area. • Lunch on own.
• Experience a dynamic, educational and inspirational visit to Hadassah Medical
Organization (HMO):
✓ Learn about the vision for the campus.
✓ Hear from renowned doctors and nurses specializing in pain management and
medical marijuana.
• This evening, we enjoy a gala dinner overlooking the golden city of Jerusalem.

Day 6: Friday, October 12, 2018: IF I FORGET THEE O’ JERUSALEM
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Today, we visit the Mt. Scopus hospital for a tour and commemorative ceremony. Learn
from a special presentation by Scholar-in –Residence, Gil Troy.
• Later this morning, choose Track 2A, 2B, 2C or 2D
• TRACK 2-A: “War of Independence; the struggle for Jerusalem”
o Visit Latrun, Israel’s armored corp museum, where we are guided by a young
soldier as we explore the tanks and artillery used by the Israeli Defense Forces
throughout the country’s history.
o Tour the Burma Road by jeep, as our guides narrate
the struggle for Jerusalem in 1948 and tell the stories
that come to mind by the views of famous Biblical
sites along the way.
o Enjoy a Picnic lunch at a key overlook en route to
Jerusalem.
o Our guide gives us a summary briefing regarding the
1948 fight for Jerusalem, including a Harel
panoramic view and a look at the Kastel.
• TRACK 2-B: “New Archaeology in Jerusalem”
o Explore the City of David’s (Ir David) continuing
excavations.
o Walk via the recently extended tunnel from Ir David to the Davidson Center.
o Discover the amazing new section of the Western Wall tunnels.
• TRACK 2-C: Donor recognition program.
• TRACK 2-D: “Art & Market”
o Visit art galleries in Jerusalem and take a colorful and flavorful market tour.
• We join together for Shabbat dinner at Blaustein Hall with a gorgeous view of the Old
City walls and the Tower of David. Here we listen to guest speaker presentations (note: no
microphone due to Shabbat).

Day 7: Saturday, October 13, 2018: SHABBAT SHALOM!
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Free morning for Shabbat services (options provided).
• 11:00am walking tour of the Talbiya/Rechavia neighborhood.
• 2:00pm walking tour of the German and Greek colonies.
• Afternoon learn-a-thon with Scholar- in –Residence, Gil
Troy.
• As Shabbat comes to an end, we join together with Hadassah
friends for Havdalah.
• Free evening in Jerusalem.
• Optional activity: View the spectacular Tower of David Sound
and Light show (separate cost).

Day 8: Sunday, October 14, 2018: CELEBRATING HADASSAH
• Breakfast at our hotel.
• Drive to Shiloh to visit the biblical site and meet with Daniella Weiss, Israeli political
figure and speaker.
• March as one from the Jerusalem municipality building via the old Hadassah college, the
first hospital built outside the walls of the Old City, to Beit Ticho, where we enjoy our
closing reception.
• Enjoy free time in Jerusalem before transferring to the airport for our flight back to the
United States, arriving tomorrow morning.
