frida giannini A Flash of Gucci
Asexy label with a limited-edition offering teeming with hip quotient—what more could you want for a launch? Perhaps to debut during the hottest event of the Miami season?
Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini, has checked all the requisite boxes with Gucci Icon-Temporary, a flash (in Gucci parlance)sneaker store that will open its doors on December 1 in the Design District in time for Art Basel Miami Beach. Giannini teamed up with music producer and DJ Mark Ronson to create four exclusive sneakers to add to her
limited-edition Icon-Temporary collection featuring 18 styles for men and women priced between $520 and $1,430. “From the moment I sat down with Mark we connected,” Giannini says. “He has a great eye for design and an amazing knowledge of sneaker history.” The pair also discovered a mutual love of music, resulting in what may be the most sought-after gift-with-purchase: Each pair of sneakers will come with a custom 12-inch vinyl record featuring tracks selected by Ronson. Here, Giannini took a few moments to talk about get-ting your kicks out of Gucci. —Laurie Brookins
