NSS volunteers of our college are playing a major role in creating health awareness, specially
about AIDS, diabetes, smoking and alcohol in the public, especially among the village people.

Whenever there is big mela or Jatra Mahosthava in the near by villages, our NSS volunteers
never miss the opportunity to do so. They create AIDS/smoking/alcohol awareness by
performing skits and also asking them questions about AIDS/smoking/alcohol and by
distributing the hand bills which contains information about AIDS/smoking/alcohol, its
spreading, symptoms, precautions to prevent etc,.

8. 06-10-2017 04 50 JSS Academy of Higher education and research
along with NSS units of the constituent Colleges had
organized blood donation camp on 06-10-2017on
the occasion of 102nd Jayanthi Mahotsava
celebrations of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri
Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. About 78 units
of blood were collected.
9. 07-10-2017 02 100 Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University in
association with constituent colleges (Medical,
Dental, Pharmacy and Life Sciences) had organised
rally on Hand sanitation to create awareness among
the public to maintain good hygiene practices. About
350 students participated in the rally and sensitized
the public.

Description of activities:
1. International Yoga Day Report JSS University
National Service Scheme (NSS) of JSS University, Mysuru along with the constituent
colleges celebrated international Yoga day on 21st June 2017 in the premises of Mysore Race
Club in view to support the Governement of Karnataka to enter into the guiness book of records
for the highest number of participants performing yoga in Mysuru city. But unfortunately
Mysuru stood second with 54101 particpants but we kept our spirits high for next year to enter
into the guiness book of records. The function was inaugurated by cabinet ministers Dr H.C.
Mahadevappa, Mr. Tanveer Sait and Members of Legislative Assembly of the Mysuru
Constituency and many other dignitaries.
Again in the afternoon, National Service Scheme (NSS) of JSS University, Mysuru along
with the constituent colleges celebrated international Yoga day on 21st June 2017 in the premises
of JSS Medical College, Mysuru at 2:00 P.M.
Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS University, Dr.H. Basavanagowdappa, Principal, JSSMC, Dr.
Anil Kumar, Principal, JSS Dental College and Hospital, Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar, Principal,
JSSCP, Mysuru were the guests present in the function.
Yoga guru Dr. Seetharam, Mysuru demonstrated and taught the various ASANAS of
yoga. About 100 faculty members of JSS University participated and learnt the various asanas.

2. Sapling of seed balls
National Service Scheme (NSS) of JSS University, Mysuru along with the constituent
colleges organized GROW GREEN Initiative. About 4 Lakh Seed Balls were sowed in the
Muthathi Forest, Malavalli Tq, Mandya on 16th July 2017.
About 70 NSS Volunteers Officers/Staff of JSS Medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Life Sciences
participated. The program was jointly organized by Ruksha Ropana, an voluntary organization
who developed this concept.

3. Sapling of Plants on alumni day
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru had organized alumni meet on 12th August 2017. Dr T.M.
Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSSCP, Mysuru along with the alumnus, NSS unit JSSCP had planted
about 50 saplings in the premises of the college as a mark of the alumni meet.

4. 71st Independence Day celebrations
JSS University along with the constituent colleges and NSS units celebrated the 71st
Independence Day in the JSS Medical institutions campus. Registrar, Principals of the
constituent colleges delivered talk on the integrity, diversity, Swacch Bharat and Swasth Bharat
followed by the cultural program by JSS School children, SS Nagara, Mysuru.
5. Observance of Swacctha Pakawara Programme by Govt. of India.
JSS University along with the constituent colleges and NSS units celebrated Observance of
Swacctha Pakawara Programme from 1st to 15th August 2017.
From 1st to 3rd August 2017
Swacctha Pakawara programme was inaugurated at JSS College of Pharmacy by our
Principal Dr. T.M.Pramod Kumar. Others present were University NSS Program co-
ordinator Dr K.L.Krishna, NSS Programme Officer, JSSCP, Dr. M.P. Gowrav, Students,
teaching staff and non-teaching were present.
More than 500 students were present for the inauguration and students, teaching staff and
others took the pledge of “SWACCH BHARAT”.
Activities for the Swacctha Pakawara program was intiated.
From 4th to 10th August 2017
NSS Volunteers were identified to maintain the cleaniness in the college premises, boys
hostel, girls hostel, college surroundings. In and around the college campus.
From 11th to 15th August 2017
About 100 NSS Volunteers were identified to educate atleast 10 other students about Swacch
Bharat which leads to healthy and clean country.

6. Rally for Rivers
JSS University along with the constituent colleges and NSS units organized a Rally for
Rivers to save water. NSS Volunteers along with other staff stood holding placards to the
public from Columbia asia to LIC Circle sensitize the people regarding depleting water
resources on 1st September 2017.

7. Observance of Swacctha Pakawara Programme by UGC.
JSS University along with the constituent colleges and NSS units celebrated Observance of
Swacctha Pakawara Programme from 1st to 15th September 2017.
Day 1 (1st September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the first day “Clean Campus Day” was observed in
all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
Day 2 (2nd September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the second day “Clean Hostel Day” was observed
in all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department. Volunteers of JSSCP, Mysuru cleaned the
hostel premises and informed the inmates of the hostel to maintain hygiene and cleaniness.
Best practices were followed in the hostel where the housekeeping cleaned the toilets, Dining
hall and bathrooms. Students have maintained their rooms in clean and hygiene manner.NSS
Program officers visited the hostel and some of the photos have been shared.
Day 3 (3rd September 2017)

As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the first day “Green Campus Day” was observed in
all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
Day 4 (4th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the fourth day “Clean Mess Day” was observed in
all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
NSS Volunteers informed the other students on maintaining the hygiene in the mess and not to
waste the food in the mess. Adopting best practices in the mess like wearing gloves, head covers,
cutting the nails and wearing facemask to the workers.
Day 5 (5th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the fifth day Essay competition on “What I can do
for a clean India” was organized at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. More than 50 students

from constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department participated in the essay competition.

Day 6 (6th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the Sixth day “Clean Surroundings Day” was
organized at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. More than 50 students from JSS College of
Pharmacy, Mysuru participated and engaged themselves cleaning of the roads leading to the
college.
Day 7 (7th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the seventh day “Care for the surroundings: Study
of Garbage cleaning systems in public spaces ” was observed in all the constituent colleges i.e
JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University
Department.
Students from the JSS University visited mysore city markets to see and study how the garbage
is cleaned, segregated into dry and wet wasted and finally evacuated in big compactors and
dispersed in the location identified.

Day 8 (8th September 2017)
Short film competition was conducted at Lecture Hall of Department of Health System
Management Studies, JSS Dental College building, Mysuru from 10:30am to 12 noon on
8/09/2017. The convenors of this programme were Dr. Raghu Ram Achar, NSS Programme
Officer and Shri Roshan K, Assistant NSS Programme Officer. The judges were Dr. Ravindra
Rangaswamy, Chief Information Officer, JSS University and Dr.Nilani P, Nodal Officer, JSS
University.

Day 9 (9th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the eigth day “Care for the surroundings: visit to
the slums to explain the concepts of cleaniness ” was observed in all the constituent colleges i.e
JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University
Department.
Students from the JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru visited mysore city markets to see and
study how the garbage is cleaned, segregated into dry and wet wasted and finally evacuated in
big compactors and dispersed in the location identified.
Day 10 (10th September 2017)
As a part of 15 days "Swachhata Pakhwada" programme which was organised in JSS University,
we visited the K R Hospital in Mysuru which is for studying the hygiene & systems for disposal
of garbage & hospital wastes . During the visit we understood that the garbage, hospital wastes &
other kind of wastes are separated out, categorised & each of them is disposed in appropriate
manner. Waste is sorted & disposed in different colours of plastic bags such as
1) Yellow - soiled cotton, dressing waste materials
2) Red - plastic materials such as gloves, head cap, drapes , i.v fluid bottles etc
3) Green - food particles & other wastes
Soiled needles used for surgeries & for other purposes are burnt (incineration) in the respective
wards with preventive measures. All the staff who are working in waste management department
have been vaccinated & personal protective equipments such as head cap ,mouth mask, gloves,
gum boots have been provided by the hospital authority. We were also taught to dispose wastes
in the same way at our homes, colleges etc so that disposing of those wastes becomes easier , in
turn which leads to the reduction of pollution at public places & our visit to the government
hospital was educative.

Day 11 (11th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the eleventh day “Care for the surroundings: visit
to the orphanages ” was observed in all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS
Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
Volunteers from JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru visited Ashadayaka Seva Trust. Discussion
on swatchata was done and it was recorded that they know very much about the swacchta and its
essenetiality. Volunteers were motivated to visit and teach these kids on Saturdays and Sundays
voluntarily. Value based books from Ramakrishna Ashram were distributed to the kids.
Day 12 (12th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the Twelveth day “Care for the surroundings:
Debriefing session with local body ” was observed in all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical
College, JSS Dental College, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
Day 13 (13th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the Thirteenth day “Clean Hostel Room”
competition was held in all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental College,
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
Winners of the clean hostel room were awarded on the 15th day of swacchta pakawada program.
Day 14 (14th September 2017)
As a part of the 15 day “Swachhata Pakhwada” programme which was organised in JSS
University, an elocution competition was conducted on the topic “Health and Hygiene is the real
wealth”. The compeon was conducted in JSS Dental College from 9:30 AM. The judges for the
programme were Dr. Deepika , Professor, Dept. of Periodontology and Dr.Mahima, Professor,

Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology. Thirty-one parcipants from different units of JSS
University took part and a me of 5 minutes was given to each parcipant. The parcipants
parcipated with utmost enthusiasm. A lot of knowledge about health and wealth was gained from
this compeon.

Day 15 (15th September 2017)
As a part of swachhta pakhwada program, on the last day Prizes were given to various volunteers
for actively participating in all the events such as clean room day, essay competition, elocution
competition, short films etc in all the constituent colleges i.e JSS Medical College, JSS Dental
College, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and JSS University Department.
8. Blood Donation Camp on occasion of 102nd Jayanthi Mahotsava celebrations of His
Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji
JSS Academy of Higher education and research along with NSS units of the constituent
Colleges and NACO had organized blood donation camp on 06-10-2017on the occasion of 102nd

Jayanthi Mahotsava celebrations of His Holiness Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra
Mahaswamiji. About 78 units of blood were collected.
The function was inaugurated by Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, Sirigere, Dr. B.
Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Betsurmath, Executive Director, JSS Mahavidyapeetha and many
other dignitaries.

9. Awareness Campaign on Hand Sanitation
Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University in association with constituent colleges
(Medical, Dental, Pharmacy and Life Sciences) had organised rally on Hand sanitation to create
awareness among the public to maintain good hygiene practices on 07-10-2017. About 350
students participated in the rally and sensitized the public.
Students hold placards saying how to rub hands and lather with soap before having food, scrub
nails with fingernail brush, rinse under hot water and drying the hands. These were some of the
practices which our students taught the public.
Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Director- Academics, JSS University, Mysuru, Principals of all the
constituent colleges, NSS Program Officers and faculty members were present during the
flagging off the rally.
Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University in association JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru
had conducted awareness on hand sanitation in the Government higher secondary school, Old
Kesare, Mysuru on 14-11-2017. About 20 NSS Volunteers explained the importance of hygiene
to the children and gift sachets of GOSAN hand sanitizers were distributed.

10. Visit to Kumarakoppalu Zero Waste Management Unit
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru staff Dr K.L. Krishna and Dr M.P. Gowrav along with JSS
College of Pharmacy, Ooty staff Dr. K.P. Arun and Dr. Ashish had visited the waste segregation
unit at Kumarakoppalu, Metagalli, Mysuru along with assistant engineer of JSSMVP, Mysuru on

25th November 2017 to see the zero waste management treatment and to incorporate in our
college premises.
The municipal solid waste collection in the city includes door to door collection, street sweeping
activity and secondary collection and transportation. Primary Collection (Door to Door
Collection of Solid Waste).This scheme is implemented in all 65 wards of the city. Out of all the
65 wards, 62 wards are handled by contract labourers, while the other 3 wards are handled by
federation of Mysore City Wards Parliament (which is Kumarakoppalu waste
management). There are 240 auto tippers and 396 pushcarts deployed for the collection of
waste. Street Sweeping Activity In Mysore city, 17 wards are handled by MCC permanent
Pourakarmikas, 1 ward by federation of Mysore City Wards Parliament (W-28), and 47
wards are handled by contract labourers. The cleaning of streets and drains takes place during
day time while the truck mounted street sweeping machine is used for night sweeping of main
roads. Secondary Collection and Transportation For the collection of waste from 65 municipal
corporation wards, 255 numbers of single compartment containers and 130 numbers of 4
compartments 4.5 cum containers are placed in all the wards. For the collection of bulk waste
from markets/choultry/hotels etc., 66 numbers of 4.5 cum Skip Containers are placed in all 65
wards.
Zero Waste Management unit is only maintained by, Fedaration of Mysuru City Ward
Parliament (R), Kumbarakoppalu, Mysuru which includes 3 wards (Ward No 26,28,29,)
A total of 5000 kgs wet waste is received daily from wards 26, 28 and 29 and 60 kgs of dry
waste is collected daily. Dry waste has been separated into 26 varieties of waste such milk
covers, slippers, beer bottles, waste bags, paper waste, glass pieces etc which are then recycled
and sold, whereas wet waste is allowed to decompose for about 3 months by pouring cowdung
slurry so that it aids in decomposition and finally becomes manure for crops which is taken by
the farmers at free of cost.
Kumarkoppalu waste management is maintained by NGO under the guidance of Shri.
Madegowda with the support of Mysore City Corporation.

11. Lecture on Zero Waste Management by WOW (Wellbeing out of waste) a
CSR Initiative by ITC Ltd.
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru in association with the NSS Unit had organised a
awareness talk on waste segregation and zero waste management by Mr. Mohan Siddi,
Representative, WOW (Wellbeing out of waste) an Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by
ITC Ltd on 05-12-2017.
Non-teaching Staff of JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru participated where they were educated
about the judicious management of waste and how to segregate the waste such as dry waste, wet
waste and sanitary waste. Dry Waste can be converted into a recyclable product and wet waste
can be used as compost or manure by farming, gardening etc. Whereas biomedical/sanitary waste
must be disposed very carefully by an indication or a marking, so that it does not affect the
personnel involved in disposing it.

12. Blood Donation Camp on occasion of National Pharmacy week celebrations
As a part of the 56th National Pharmacy Week Celebrations, JSS College of Pharmacy,
Mysuru in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Mysuru Branch, NACO
and NSS Unit had organized a Blood Donation Camp on 7th December 2017 in the premises of
JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by Dr.
Mohammed Salahuddin, Principal, Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. During the
inauguration, Dr. T. M. Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru; Dr. Puneet
Jain, Assistant Professor Department of Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, JSS Medical
College & Hospital; Dr. Umesh M, Coordinator, NPW, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru were
present. About 100 volunteers who have registered for the blood donation were screened and
around 51units of blood was collected from the volunteers. Mr. Puttaraju, Administrative
Officer, Dr. M P Gowrav, NSS Program Officer, Dr. J Suresh, Mr. B. Vishwanath, JSS College
of Pharmacy, Mysuru and Blood Bank Officers of JSS Hospital, Mysuru were also present
during the blood donation camp.

Day 1
Today Day 1, Thursday 15/03/2018, the most awaited NSS Special Camp was started
with the theme of “Youth for Rural Reconstruction”. Around 60 NSS volunteers of our
college were eagerly waiting to depart to the camp site boarded the bus at 10.30 am along with
NSS Camp Officer, Dr. M.P. Gowrav, Assistant Camp Officer Mr. Jaidev Kumar. Everyone
dropped their luggages at the Bhugathagahalli convention hall where the accommodation was
arranged for all the NSS volunteers. Inauguration of the NSS Annual Special Camp 2017-18 was
scheduled at 5.30PM at Bethaleswari Temple, Bhugathagahalli Village of Mysuru Taluk,
Mysuru District.
NSS Special Camp 2017-18 programme started with the invocation song NSS Song sung
by Ms. Annapoorneswari and group. The program was presided by our beloved Principal Dr.
T.M. Pramod Kumar J.S.S. College of pharmacy, Mysuru. Ms. Geetha welcomed the
dignitaries and guests on the Diaz. NSS Special Annual Camp-2017-18 was inaugurated by Sri.
Chairman Shivanna and Sri Mahadevu, Nadagowdru, Dr. K.L Krishna Assistant Professor
and University NSS coordinator, J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, Mysore, Dr. Balamuralidhara,
Asst. Professor, JSS College of pharmacy Mysuru, Mrs. Uma Kempakaiah, Gram Panchayath
Member, Mrs. Shivalingamma Mahadevappa, Gram Panchayath Member, Mr.
Chandrashekar, Gram Panchayath Member and other Member of the village and other guests
of Bhugathahalli and other dignitaries on the Diaz inaugurated the camp by watering the plant.
Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar, addressed the villagers, asking the villagers to participate actively in
large numbers in all the programs scheduled to be conducted from 15-03-2018 to 21-03-2018
and make best use of the camp. He also encouraged the volunteers to utilise this opportunity to
help all the villagers, to have a clear exposure to the life in a village and to gather knowledge on
how to serve the poor and needy people of the village. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.
M.P. Gowrav, he memorized the support and encouragement in organizing the said camp. He
thanked all the dignitaries and guests for their esteemed presence.
After the inauguration function, everyone moved towards the Bhugathagahalli convention hall
and had dinner at 8:30 PM followed by meeting with the NSS officers in order to discuss about
next day’s programs, Grouping of all the NSS Volunteers, Assigning each group of volunteers to
carry out various activities assigned to the individual group and Volunteers then wrote the NSS
dairy before going to bed.

Day 2
On Friday Day 2, 16/03/2018, all the volunteers woke up at 6 am and attended the NSS
Flag Hoisting programme organized by group I. Exercises were performed for 30 min followed
by the flag hoisting by Sri. Somanna, Lab Technician, JSSCP, Mysuru. After taking bath, all the
volunteers had the breakfast arranged by group II. Morning session (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m)
started with the Health Screening camp carried out by Pharmacy Practice Department of JSSCP,
Mysuru and all the NSS Volunteers informed all the people in and around the village to make
use of it. About more than 100 people were screened for diabetes and blood pressure checkup.
After the health screening camp all the volunteers moved to the convention hall where the
accommodation was arranged and had a very good lunch organized by group II. All the NSS
volunteers took rest for 2 hours and was informed to make arrangements for evening session.
The program started at 05:30 PM in the evening with the invocation song by Mr.
Premanand Patil and group and the welcome speech was given by Mr. Arafath. A guest
lecture was delivered by Dr. Hemachandra. P.N. Asst. Professor, Maharanis college for
Women, Mysuru on “Conservation of Ground water resources”. by playing some videos on
methods of ground water conservation and recharging of bore wells. Volunteers mobilized a
huge crowd and the programme was a grand success. The program ended with the vote of thanks
given by Mr.Shreyas. The said faculty had a nice interaction with NSS volunteers with lots of
happiness of success the volunteers returned to the venue for dinner arranged by group II. After
the dinner there was a meeting to review the day’s programme and next day’s programme was
planned and wrote the dairy and went to sleep at 10:30 PM.

Day 3
On Saturday Day 3, 17/03/2018, all the volunteers were made to wake up at 6 am and
attend the flag hoisting programme at 06:30 AM organized by group V and exercises were
performed for 30 mins. Followed by this, as usual everyone had breakfast after taking bath.
Breakfast arrangement was made by group III. After the breakfast at 8.30 am all the volunteers
went to venue of the camp, i.e. Betheleswari temple for the morning session organized by group
II i.e. Morning Session program was scheduled as Ayurvedic medical check up and around 100
villagers had free ayurvedic check-up and free medications were distributed to all the villagers.

After the Ayurveda camp all the NSS Volunteers had lunch organized by group III and
took rest for 2 hours and after having tea at 4 PM. The program started at 05:00 PM in the
evening with the invocation song by Mr. Namitha and group and the welcome speech was given
by Mr. Aqueeb Khan. An guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Channegowda, Chief Veterinary
Officer, Mysuru on “Protein Food intake”. He explained about the portentous foods which the
younger generation have to follow into order to maintain healthy physically and mentally. The
village people interacted with the speaker and asked few question regarding pulses and green
vegetables. The program ended with the vote of thanks given by Mr. Kiran Raj G. The said
faculty had a nice interaction with NSS volunteers with lots of happiness of success the
volunteers returned to the venue for dinner arranged by group III. After the dinner there was a
meeting to review the day’s programme and next day’s programme was planned and wrote the
dairy and went to sleep at 10:30 PM.

Day 4
Day 4, Sunday 18/03/2018, all the volunteers woke up at 6 am and attended the NSS
Flag Hoisting programme organized by group I. Exercises were performed for 30 min followed
by the flag hoisting by Sri Lingaraju, Temple Priest. After taking bath, all the volunteers had
the breakfast arranged by group IV. Morning session (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m) started with the
shramadhan carried out by all the NSS Volunteers in and around the Bethaleshwari Temple and
followed by the roads of village. After the shramadhan all the volunteers moved to the campus
where the accommodation was arranged and we had a very good lunch organized by group V.
All the NSS volunteers took rest for 2 hours and was informed to make arrangements for evening
session.
In the evening around 04:00 P.M. Planatations of about 100 saplings in the Bethaleshwari temple
premises organized. The volunteers had digged the ground about one and a half feet and planted
the trees. All the volunteers actively participated and enjoyed the plantations. Plants like
Jackfruit, Mango, Nerale and Badam etc were planted.
After the plantations the volunteers came back got ready and had a delightful dinner
arranged by group IV and this became the most memorable day and all the NSS Volunteers sung
and danced and enjoyed to the maximum and it was followed by the meeting where the present
day progress and future programmes were discussed the volunteer dairy was written and all the
volunteers went back to the bed.

Sapling of Plants by Staff and Students
Day 5
Day 5, Monday 19/03/2018, all the volunteers were made to wake up at 6 am and attend
the flag hoisting programme at 06:30 AM organized by group IV and exercises were performed
for 30 mins. Followed by this, as usual everyone had breakfast after taking bath. Breakfast
arrangement was made by group I. After the breakfast at 8.30 am all the volunteers went to
venue of the camp, i.e. Bhugathahalli for the morning session organized by group II. Around 170
school children were treated for teeth problems like dental carries, tooth pain, tooth extraction
and tooth filling treatments were done and all the patients were distributed with the free
medications provided by the Colgate and Himalaya Drug Company.
After finishing morning program all the NSS camp volunteers headed back to venue and had
lunch organized by group V and took rest for some time and went back to organize the evening
programme .The program started at 05:30 PM in the evening by invocation song. An awareness
programme was organized by Pharmacy Practice Dept of JSS College of Pharmacy on Poison
information center and AIDS awareness programs by playing some skits and door to door
campaigning. This evening programme was organized by group II. Volunteers mobilized a huge
crowd and the programme was a grand success. The program ended with the vote of thanks
given by Mrs. Kavana. The said faculty had a nice interaction with NSS volunteers with lots of
happiness of success the volunteers returned to the venue for dinner arranged by group V. After

planned and wrote the dairy and went to sleep at 10:30 PM.

Day 6
Day 6, Tuesday, 20/03/2018 the day began with the flag hoisting by Sri Jawaraiah, APMC
member and it was organized by group III at morning 6:30am. After a couple of minutes of yoga
and stretching exercises everyone went back to their rooms and got ready quickly and had a cup
of tea at 7:30am and all the volunteers started towards to organize morning programmes.
Medical check up camp was conducted (from 9 am to 1 pm) by the expert Doctors (Paediatrics,
Opthamology and General) of JSS Medical College and Hospital, JSS University, Mysore.
Medical check up was done for around 200 villagers were carried out. The villagers showed very
good response and all the villagers appreciated the NSS unit of JSS College of Pharmacy for
organizing the Medical check-up camp and thanked the Doctors whole heartedly. Around 20
Villagers underwent eye testing and were suggested for cataract operation and were dispensed
with free medications provided by the JSS Drug Centre, JSS Hospital, Mysore.
After finishing morning program all the NSS camp volunteers headed back to venue and had
lunch organized by group IV and took rest for some time and went back to organize the evening
programme .The program started at 05:30 PM in the evening with the invocation song by Mr.
Kiran and group and the welcome speech was given by Mr. Pavan Kumar. The evening program
was on creating awareness and educating the village people about “Food safety” by Dr.
K.L.Krishna, Assistant Professor, JSSCP, Mysuru. There was a good crowd and the programme
was a huge success. The program ended with the vote of thanks given by Mr. Barath. The said
faculty had a nice interaction with NSS volunteers and encouraged them to contribute to society
as much as possible and they also complimented the volunteers for very systematic arrangement
of camp and programmes. Teachers wished the volunteers all the best and also distributed sweets
which they brought to the volunteers.
After the programme the volunteers came back got ready and had a delightful dinner arranged by
group IV and this became the most memorable day and all the NSS Volunteers sung and danced
and enjoyed to the maximum and it was followed by the meeting where the present day progress
and future programmes were discussed the volunteer dairy was written and all the volunteers
went back to the bed.

Day 7
On the last day, 21/03/2018 valedictory function was organised at Bethaleshwari
Convention Hall. After the breakfast all the groups started their assignments of packing,
cleaning, venue preparation etc., The programme started with the NSS Song as invocation song.
Invocation was by NSS Volunteers Mr. Premanand Patil and team. Dr. M.P. Gowrav
welcomed the guests. NSS Volunteer Mr. Naveen Datta presented the NSS Camp report in front
of the dignitaries on the Dias with few highlights of the camp like Plantation of saplings in the
temple premises, medical camp, dental camp and ayurvedic camp. Mr. Puttarajappa S,
Administrative officer of our college, presided over the function and Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar,
Principal, JSSCP, Mysuru was the guest of honor. Sri. Jawaraiah, APMC member were
invited as Chief guests and were present on the Dias. Dr. M.P. Gowrav proposed the valedictory
speech. Apart from these dignitaries, Colleagues, Programme Co-ordinator of JSS University,
were present in the function which made the function more colourful and cheerful.
Sri. Jawaraiah wished all the best for the NSS Volunteers for their future endeveaors and was
very happy with various programs which were conducted in the 07 days camp and also wished
everyone and asked to conduct the camp once again in the village and to serve the villagers. He
also told the youth to actively participate in social activities. Mr. Puttarajappa S appreciated all
the activities which were organized and conducted by the NSS special camp held for 07 days at
village and congratulated all the volunteers for more actively involving and providing various
services to the villagers. Mr. Shivanna, Ex-chairman of Bhugathahalli village was very happy
with all the programmes which were conducted and congratulated all the volunteers for
completing the NSS special camp with great success. Best NSS Volunteer awards were given to
Mr. Barath, III B.Pharm, Mr. Rethina Kamal, III B.Pharm and Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan T, II
B.Pharm. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Jaidev Kumar. At last the students unwillingly
packed their luggages and headed back to the college with life time memories.
