CAUTION! This system is a RF Transmitter and continuously emits RF energy. Maintain a minimum 8-inch (20 cm) clearance from the antenna while the system is operating. Whenever possible, shut down the Regional-Area Network (RAN) before servicing the antenna.

DRU SeRF II Module LEDs
NOTE: When the SeRF FPGA is loaded, the SeRF II Module LEDs automatically enter a LED Roll Test sequence that takes approximately two seconds to complete. The test cycles the ALARM, SYNTH, and STATUS LEDs in 250 ms of red, 250 ms of green, and 250 ms off. This repeats three times, after which the LEDs begin normal operation. Some older SeRF II Modules may also show 250 ms of amber after the 250 ms of green. Additionally, an active SeRF Synthesizer Unlocked alarm causes the same LED sequencing. In this instance, the ALARM, SYNTH, and STATUS LED sequence reoccurs every 11 seconds until the alarm state ends.
Ref # LED LED Color Description
1
SFP TX• OFF • No Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) present.• GREEN • SFP is present and the FPGA internal Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is locked.• RED • SFP is present and the FPGA internal PLL is not locked.
SFP RX
• OFF • No SFP present.• GREEN • Receiver has locked and framed to the incoming signal.• AMBER • Receiver has light, but is not locked to the incoming frequency or not framed.• RED • Receiver has no light.
2 ALARM • GREEN • No major alarm is present in the DRU or in any downstream unit.• RED • Initial bootup sequence or a major alarm is present in any downstream unit.
3 SYNTH • GREEN • Locked• RED • Unlocked or initial bootup sequence
4 STATUS
• GREEN • No alarm for the SeRF II Module.• RED • Initial bootup sequence and should become GREEN within 1 minute; if RED after bootup, a Major alarm exists
for the SeRF II Module.NOTE: A Software Version Mismatch Fault alarm for a Remote Unit can also turn the STATUS LED on the
Host Unit SeRF II Module red. Therefore, if the Status LED on a Host Unit SeRF II Module is red and you cannot find a major alarm for the SeRF II Module, check to see if a connected Remote Unit has an active Software Version Mismatch Fault alarm.
5 POWER• GREEN • Power OK and operating properly.• RED • Power supply out of tolerance.• OFF • No power present.

• Green • DART is linked.• Blinking Green • A linked IF DART or Host Unit RF Super DART is in Data Path Reset due to a clocking issue.*• Red • A major alarm is active for this DART Module.• Amber • A minor alarm is active for this DART Module, for example an Automatic Level Control alarm.• Blinking Amber • FPGA is loading—RF SuperDARTs blink amber and Classic DARTs display a solid amber for two seconds. • Off • DART is not linked.
* The DART Status LED blinks whenever the DART is in Data Path Reset. Data Path Reset occurs when there is a clocking event within the DART, which occurs when the reference to the DART is bad or missing. A blinking green LED means that the DART has been linked and not in an alarm state when the clocking event occurred.

CAUTION! The AC Input Power Supply Unit in the Expansion Module Group has hazardous external and internal voltages. It should be handled, tested and installed only by qualified technical persons who are trained in the use of power systems and are well aware of the hazards involved.
CAUTION! The DC output terminals on the AC Input Power Supply Unit in the Expansion Module Group are at hazardous voltage potentials. Do not touch this area when power is applied.
CAUTION! When operating the AC Input Power Supply Unit in the Expansion Module Group, the frame ground terminal must be connected to safety ground by means of a three-wire AC power line to minimize electrical shock hazard and to ensure low EMI (Electromagnetic Interference).
CAUTION! The internal voltages are at hazardous potentials. Do not remove the covers to the Power Supply Unit in the Expansion Module Group. There are no user-serviceable components in these units. Removing the covers voids the Power Supply Unit’s warranty.

Installation
INSTALL THE EMG MODULES IN THE EQUIPMENT RACK
CAUTION! Follow the steps in the order shown.
CAUTION! Do not power on any of the units or connect AC power cords until directed to do so.
CAUTION! The maximum ambient temperature for the DRU is 55º C (131º F).
CAUTION! If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Install the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the manufacturer.
CAUTION! Install the equipment in a rack so that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
CAUTION! Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on over-current protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.
CAUTION! Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (such as the use of power strips).
CAUTION! Wet conditions increase the potential for receiving an electrical shock when installing or using electrically-powered equipment. To prevent electrical shock, never install or use electrical equipment in a wet location or during a lightning storm.
CAUTION! When loading the Expansion Module Group in a rack, make sure the mechanical loading of the rack is even to avoid a hazardous condition such as an unbalanced rack.
CAUTION! The rack should safely support the combined weight of all the equipment it holds.
NOTE: To ensure that all optical connectors remain dust-free during installation, leave all dust caps and dust protectors in place until directed to remove them for connection.
NOTE: Vertical guides are recommended, but are not EMG components. Vertical cable guide kits are available as separate items from CommScope. Contact a CommScope sales representative for further information (see "DCCS Global Technical Support” on page 64).

CONNECT THE OPTICAL FIBER BETWEEN THE DRU AND THE HOST UNITThissectiondescribeshowtoconnecttheHostUnitSFPTXtotheDRUSFPRXandtheHostUnitSFPRXtotheDRUSFPTX.CAUTION! This equipment uses a Class 1 Laser according to FDA/CDRH rules. Laser radiation can seriously damage
the retina of the eye. Do not look into the ends of any optical fiber. Do not look directly into the optical transmitter of any unit or exposure to laser radiation may result. Use an optical power meter to verify active fibers. Place a protective cap or hood immediately over any radiating transmitter or optical fiber connector to avoid the potential of dangerous amounts of radiation exposure. This practice also prevents dirt particles from entering the connector.
CAUTION! Always allow sufficient fiber length to permit routing of patch cords and pigtails without severe bends. Fiber optic patch cords or pigtails may be permanently damaged if bent or curved to a radius of less than 2 inches (5.1 cm).
CAUTION! You must clean the SFP optical ports at the Host Unit and at the DRU, and clean the tip of the fiber-patch cords. Failure to clean the ports and cord tips may result in an optical Rx or Tx alarm state.

minimum recommended bend radius specified by the cable manufacturer. Do not apply more pulling force to the cable than specified.
NOTE: The Host Unit optical adapters angle to the left. Therefore, always route patch cords to the Host Unit from the left side of the rack. Routing patch cords to the Host Unit from the right may exceed the bend radius limitations for the optical fiber.

CAUTION! Power up the EMG units in the order presented. The IFEU does not power up correctly if the DRU is connected but not powered up first. Powering a DRU off while leaving the IFEU powered on, however, does not cause power issues with the IFEU.
CAUTION!
